“Drawing Machines” Schuiten and Peeters at the Musée des arts et métiers

François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters, the creators of The Obscure Cities (a comic book series I am absolutely a fan of), arrive at the Musée des arts et métiers with an exhibition about the machines that stimulate their imagination.

With its double-meaning title “Drawing Machines,” Schuiten and Peeters worked in collaboration with the museum’s reserves to offer visitors a creative approach, allowing everyone to make the machines presented there their own in their imagination. This desire is even more evident as it is possible at the end of the tour to pick up a pencil and sit down at a drawing table.

Alongside these globes, miniature trains, and airplane engines, you will find wonderful drawings by François Schuiten, including the superb poster featuring the Carmagnolle brothers’ diving suit (the “Mona Lisa” of the National Maritime Museum which is presented at the beginning of the exhibition!).
