This year, for the first time, the event Culture au Quai , which I tell you about every year on the blog, will take place on December 14 and 15, 2019 at the Carreau du Temple (Paris 3rd district). For the occasion, this festival of cultural venues and outings is transforming into a unique Christmas market—100% cultural and free!
For this 12th edition, more than 150 cultural players from the Paris region (theaters, museums, concert halls, heritage sites…) will be showcasing their spaces and upcoming programs.

This major entirely free event dedicates an entire weekend to cultural outings: shows, exhibitions, dance, concerts, or movies—there will be plenty to choose from to plan all your 2020 outings!
Table of Contents
On the program: 150 cultural venues, 60 free activities all weekend long with 4 stages programmed continuously on Saturday from 2 PM to 9 PM, and on Sunday from 10 AM to 7 PM.
Once again this year, Culture au Quai is hosting numerous exhibitors such as: Le Lucernaire, the Monnaie de Paris, the Camille Claudel Museum, La Cinémathèque Française, Hello Lille, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Palais de la Découverte, Radio France,…
Not to be missed:
- Saturday at 4 PM: debate with Nora Hamzawi, Sophia Aram, and Fanny Polly on the power of the stage.
Saturday at 6 PM: director Valérie Donzelli presents her film “Notre Dame” in a preview screening. - Saturday 7:30 PM / 8:30 PM: concerts by rap artists Simia and Juste Shani.
- Sunday at 4 PM: “2024 Olympics: the bets on culture and diversity” debate. Including Ruth Mackenzie, artistic director of the Châtelet, Stéphane Fiévet, Director of Culture for Paris 2024, and Akram Kahn, dancer and choreographer.
My top tips:
- Snag invitations for the 3 shows from the MPAA (House of Amateur Artistic Practices).
- Pick up a Théâtre du Châtelet membership card (valued at €10 to €30), which allows you to get up to 60% off on shows.
- Try to win an exceptional stay to experience a true impressionist adventure in the Ile-de-France and Normandy regions, for the Normandie Impressionniste festival.
- Enter the giveaway to try and win a weekend for two in Rennes with Destination Rennes.
- You will be able to attend many free shows and concerts.
- The Orchestre de Paris is offering -30% on its symphonic concert, which is €85 for two tickets including glasses of Champagne.
