It’s rare that I attend “glitz and glamour” parties, so attending two back-to-back is practically a miracle. But hey, it’s not my doing that this year the Ministry of Culture and Communication decided to host its cocktail party for the Fête de la Musique the day before the one celebrating the Fête du Cinéma.
Result: the Ministry staff who did the cocktail marathon were exhausted after two (or too, for some) well-watered evenings and very little sleep.
The Fête de la Musique always takes place in the salons of the Ministry, on Rue de Valois.
The venue also provides access to the balcony of the Palais Royal, which allows you to watch the programming happening in the gardens from above, although the Ministry of Culture’s own party has its own performers.
The Fête du Cinéma changes location every year, and this year it was held under the large glass roof of the Grand Palais, a magnificent venue currently housing the “Monumenta” exhibition featuring the work of Anish Kapoor.
Well, of course, there were stars at this Fête du Cinéma, however, it’s quite difficult to take photos of them. Not because it’s hard to do—they are very accessible—but rather because nobody bothers them and you always feel a bit silly photographing them or asking them to pose with us… in any case, I always feel awkward.
