The Collège de France is a rather unique institution, which is why I wanted to tell you about it today. Indeed, the Collège de France is neither a university nor a ‘grande école’. It does not pass on knowledge acquired from defined curricula to students. It does not prepare for any diploma. This place is dedicated to fundamental research, and it has an obligation to share the results of this research within the framework of a specific type of teaching. Professors are, in fact, required to teach ‘knowledge in the making’.
There are 52 chairs for tenured professors covering a vast range of disciplines: from mathematics to the study of great civilizations, including physics, chemistry, biology and medicine, philosophy, sociology and economics, prehistory, archaeology, history, and linguistics. In short, you are bound to find a subject that interests you!

In the spirit of openness that characterizes this institution, the courses taught by the professors at the Collège de France (all specialists in their fields) are open to everyone for free, without prior registration. That said, there are still a few small conditions for being able to attend these classes. First, you must be free during the day, as classes take place from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, which is difficult to reconcile if you work. Secondly, most classes take place in Paris, although I read somewhere that some teaching was also provided in the rest of France, but I haven’t managed to get more information on that subject. If you are interested and have free time, I suggest you take a look at their calendar, where you will find course titles and schedules.
Finally, for all those who cannot travel, the Collège de France also makes over 10,000 free courses available online. The digital campus of the Collège de France allows you to explore over 10,000 audiovisual documents, offering full courses and lectures by professors in all disciplines.
