Le Tub, food truck turned restaurant

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted an article about a good Parisian spot! I admit that I’ve been running around quite a bit lately and that I’ve mostly (you must have noticed) been wandering outside of Paris recently…

Anyway, today I’m introducing you to the restaurant Le Tub, an establishment that opened its doors in the Palais Royal district (the area where I work and where I’m always on the lookout for new lunch spots) in Paris this year.

Rustic restaurant interior with a spiral staircase and wooden beams.

Small red Citroën van used as a flower stand with pink flowers and green leaves.

The concept is fun because, originally, Le Tub was a food truck with Alsatian influences in a red Citroën van, and now, instead of being on the street, the truck provides an open-style kitchen inside a restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere.

The venue actually features three completely different spaces. On the first floor, there’s a cozy, bookable lounge; on the ground floor, an open kitchen leading out to a lovely terrace; and in the vaulted cellars, a speakeasy bar.

To taste:

  • To start things off, the place makes great freshly squeezed juices with fresh fruit (€7) that I highly recommend you try!

  • The flagship dish at Le Tub remains the flammekueche, that Alsatian specialty also known as tarte flambée. It turns out to be particularly tasty here while remaining simple (between €10 and €15 depending on the recipe).

  • We also tested L’auvergnat, a burger with beef, organic bread, Auvergne blue cheese, lettuce, fresh tomatoes, homemade onion confit, and grilled peppers, all served with fries (€17).

  • For dessert, to finish on a sweet note after this hearty meal, we ordered two scoops of ice cream and a homemade chocolate molten cake (€7).

Thanks to Le Tub for this invitation.
