My tips for scenting your home

Some topics come to me in strange ways. Or by necessity, through my discoveries, and often, of course, based on my personal tastes.

That’s how I’ve come to share this short article with you today on ways to scent your home. Because I admit that I place great importance on scents, and I love for my apartment to smell like this or that fragrance depending on the season, my mood, or the people I’m hosting…

The Mathilde M. Parisian boutique

I was already familiar with this brand because my mom had previously given me a Mathilde M. home fragrance, but I was delighted to discover the variety of product ranges this brand offers.

You can find everything there, from room sprays to household linens, interior decor, fashion accessories, and also cosmetics and perfumes.

The Parisian boutique, located in the 5th arrondissement, is truly worth a visit for its charming decor. You could spend hours wandering around the shop looking for gift ideas, finding something for your home, or just for the pleasure of the eyes and the sense of smell…

For my part, I have become addicted to the brand’s little scented ceramics that you can slip into your closets. They smell great, they are reusable (you can re-apply fragrance to the ceramic once it has faded), and they are pretty too.

For your information, there are also stores for the brand in Lyon and Mâcon.

The new Durance diffusers

For its two new diffusers, Durance (a brand I really like, especially for its cosmetic products) offers a new generation of diffusion models: ultrasonic diffusion (yes, home fragrance is actually at the forefront of new technologies).

The concept: essential oil diluted in mineral water or a fragrance extract of your choice is dispersed by ultrasound. A scented mist is then released by the diffuser, which allows for light humidification of the environment, which is all too often dried out by air conditioning or heating systems (which is very much the case in my apartment, for example).

In addition to being very quiet, this method of diffusion allows you to spread essential oils or room fragrance extracts into the atmosphere without altering them and while respecting their qualities.

Collines de Provence

Collines de Provence Côté Jardin home fragrance set: diffuser and scented candle.

The olfactory universe of this brand evokes the smells of a Provençal country house in summer, with fresh, fine, and delicate scents, all in neat packaging.

Since I love herbaceous and woody scents, I was immediately drawn to the Côté Jardin range, with fresh notes of galbanum, jasmine, musk, and rose. It comes as a scented candle (€15.50), an aromatic bouquet (€20), and a home fragrance (€12.90).

The tip: on its website, Collines de Provence regularly offers products on sale.

Iba

Created in 1990, this brand offers home fragrances in a collection of decorative objects that diffuse quality fragrances developed by perfume houses. It is sold in large and medium-sized retailers, making it very easy to find and at very affordable prices.

All products in the range contain organic essential oils and are guaranteed benzene-free and formaldehyde-free. For my part, I really like the design of the Escapade à Bali or Marché aux fleurs scented flower (€6.75) and the diffuser with rattan sticks (€4.99). The real deal with this range is its prices, which are ultra-low (between €1.85 and €6.75).

Florame, organic home fragrances

This range of home fragrances, controlled by Ecocert, is formulated with organic essential oils; the packaging and boxes are recyclable, and it is certified free of colorants or synthetic fragrances.

There are 4 ranges with scents of Provence: Feuilles de Verveine with rather lemony notes, Fleur d’Amandier, Pin en Provence with woody and resinous notes (my favorite), and Fleur d’Oranger with fresh and green notes.

The brand is sold in health food and organic stores and in Florame boutiques (in St Rémy de Provence, Mane, or the 6th arrondissement of Paris).

AMBIANCE Organic Home Fragrances FLORAME

As for usage, personally, I prefer scented bouquets, because with their rattan sticks, the diffusion is continuous, and I also find it’s a pretty decorative detail in an apartment.
