With February 14th approaching, I had to put together a short selection of great deals related to the lovers’ holiday. Whether you are in a relationship or not, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the free activities set up for this celebration.
Idea #1: Display your love in a big way
The City of Paris is making 170 of its digital billboards available to lovers, allowing them to display their sweet words or declarations on Valentine’s Day.
You have until February 8, 2012 to post your messages (160 characters maximum) on the city hall’s website: www.paris.fr
Idea #2: Free makeup sessions and little gifts
On February 14, 2012, a bus in the colors of the Elysées Marbeuf aesthetics school will travel through Paris with Miss France 2012, Delphine Wespiser, on board.
Bus route in Paris:
- from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, Paris 6th, Luxembourg, Rue Auguste Comte.
- from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Paris 11th, Place de la Bastille.
- from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Paris 11th, Place de la Nation.
In addition to this, on that same day, you can go directly to the Elysées Marbeuf aesthetics school to enjoy a free makeup session or a free nail polish application. Participants will leave with a gift offered by Elysées Marbeuf and the Miss France scented collection.

Idea #3: Exceptional wine tasting
On Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Emilie Gervoson invites all lovers of wine and art, right in the heart of the capital, for Oenofolie #3, a unique tasting and artistic experience in the company of David Hamilton, a British photographer, and Patrick Méraz, Cellar Master of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion, who will present the estate’s wines.
This tasting will be accessible for free to people who participated in the contest “Artistic wine or intoxicating art?” linked to the event on Facebook, so don’t hesitate to try your luck!
Idea #4: Carrefour will offer 1,000 free red roses on Valentine’s Day
To get one, you must first register here and then print an online voucher, which will allow you to get your rose at Carrefour or Carrefour Planet stores on February 14. Of course, there must be a participating Carrefour store near you.
Idea #5: A giant Speed Dating event at the Virgin Megastore on the Champs-Élysées with AdopteUnMec.com
On Monday, February 13 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Virgin, in partnership with adopteunmec.com, is organizing the “Free to Adopt” evening at their store on the Champs-Élysées. After a series of speed dates in a “so Love” musical atmosphere, 6 lucky participants will have the opportunity to be adopted by a celebrity. A nice event if you’re looking for someone to keep you company the next day for Valentine’s Day!
Idea #6: A balloon release for Valentine’s Day: “Love is in the air”
For Valentine’s Day, the site “LivingSocial” is organizing the “Love is in the air” operation in 5 major cities in France. The program features 500 balloons in each city, giving lovers, singles, and families the chance to write their most beautiful love messages on a card attached to a colorful biodegradable balloon. As a bonus, note that participants in the balloon release can receive free €5 gift cards to use on LivingSocial.

Do you want a Valentine’s Day that’s out of the ordinary, or even an anti-Valentine’s Day? Then I highly recommend the February 14 evening organized for this occasion at the Manoir de Paris, which I mentioned in a previous post.
On the program: the Manor plunged into total darkness, an atmosphere of love songs and hard rock rhythmically accompanying your walk, not to mention the twenty or so actors roaming the premises to give you moments of fright…

Idea #8: Free distribution of female and male condoms
If you intend to have a sizzling night for this Valentine’s Day, on February 13 and 14, 2012, a Sidaction operation with information and free distribution of female and male condoms will take place on the Place Carrée at the Forum des Halles (Paris 1st).
Idea #9 (suggested by Vanilla): A romantic and free cinema session at the Grand Rex
A romantic film par excellence, Titanic by James Cameron will be screened for free in its French version and in 3D at the Grand Rex (75002 Paris), on February 14 at 9:00 PM. To attend, 600 invitations for two people will be available for pickup on Thursday, February 9, at 10:00 AM, from the Parisian theater!
Idea #10: The Valentine’s Day speed dating event by Citroën
For Valentine’s Day, the Citroën Champs-Elysées boutique is organizing an original and unique speed dating event. The brand has decided to bring together souls looking for a lover on the very evening of Valentine’s Day, where hundreds of singles—optionally Citroën fans—will be able to sip a cocktail while casting lingering glances at the other guests.
To participate in this famous speed dating event, it’s simple: just register via the Citroën France Facebook page. Once registered, you can go on February 14 to the C_42 (the Citroën showroom on the Champs) where two speed dating sessions will take place: at 5:00 PM for 18-28 year olds and at 8:00 PM for those over 28.
