I don’t know about you, but with the start of the school and work year, I’m craving culture; I want to discover the new exhibitions on the horizon, the shows, the concerts…
So, I’m giving you a quick overview of the events that caught my attention during this period of transition and the beginning of autumn (yes, yes…) and the shows I’m going to discover soon.
- Astérix is on display in the streets of Bercy Village until January 26, 2014, with a free exhibition in collaboration with Editions Albert René.
On the occasion of the release of the 35th comic book album Asterix and the Picts, the irreducible mustachioed characters are setting up shop in the covered passages of Bercy Village through an exhibition designed as a thematic journey in 4 parts: the chiefs, the women, the animals, and gastronomy!
To complement this exhibition, a more complete retrospective of Goscinny’s work will open very soon at the BNF.
Free exhibition and open to all

- I’m looking forward quite impatiently to discovering the new temporary exhibition at the Maillol Museum about the Etruscans, a subject that has always fascinated me since my archaeology studies, even if it was never my specialty.
Exhibition “Etruscans, a hymn to life” from September 18, 2013, to February 9, 2014, at the Maillol Museum (75007 Paris)
- For the release of a new album featuring Chopin’s 24 Preludes, pianist Jean-Philippe Collard will perform 5 concerts in Paris (Salle Colonne) and one in Lyon (Piano à Lyon), dedicated to Frédéric Chopin and his contemporaries.
The Lyon concert took place on October 11, at the Salle Rameau (29 rue de La Martinière 69 001 Lyon) / price from €5 to €37
The 5 piano recitals featuring Chopin’s Preludes will take place on October 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 at 8:00 PM at the Salle Colonne (94, boulevard Auguste Blanqui 75013 Paris) / full price €25 – reduced price €15
- I’m quite curious about the show Swan Lake. I don’t really know what it will be like, but I want to discover this trashy version of Swan Lake taking place at the Casino de Paris this October.
Apparently, in this modern adaptation, the original sorcerer is a drug dealer and the swans are prostitutes under his protection, glamorous…
My opinion: a very interesting show for those who like hip-hop and street dance, but not recommended for Swan Lake purists. I found some scenes (especially the opening one) totally brilliant, with a lot of creativity and originality, while others, more oriented towards the classical, were less successful. A bit uneven, therefore, but very pleasant overall.
- In terms of theater, I can’t wait to discover Léonore Confino’s play Ring, which is currently playing at the Théâtre du Petit Saint-Martin and which apparently shatters our clichés and certainties about couples. With actors Audrey Dana and Sami Bouajila nonetheless, both of whom already have impressive careers!
I am quite difficult when it comes to humor and even more so with comedians, so I am curious to see if Nawell Madani and her show “I’m the most Belgian” will manage to make me laugh.
This Jamel Comedy Club alumna will be on the stage of the Feux de la rampe from October to December 2013.
My opinion: A young woman with a contagious frankness and a show with great energy, mixing dance (you can tell Nawell was a dancer) and a good dose of contagious laughter. I therefore highly recommend it!
Update from November 22, 2013: For your information, following the success of Nawell’s show, it has been extended until January 29, 2014, at the Palais des Glaces!
And you, what are your cravings, your recommendations for shows, exhibitions, concerts?
