An English Christmas, Académie Vocale de Paris
It was in 2006 that Iain Simcock founded the Académie Vocale de Paris ensemble, which brings together a dozen singers aged 19 to 24, from the Academy’s choir school and several Parisian conservatories.
The ensemble possesses an extremely rich repertoire, ranging from Renaissance music to the creation of contemporary pieces. This has allowed them to perform in Paris, at the Grand Théâtre of Bordeaux in 2009, at Westminster Cathedral in 2010, at the Abbey of Solesmes for the Abbey’s millennium, and at numerous festivals.
But back to Christmas 2014, with the program for this concert featuring the famous Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, alongside works by John Tavener, Bob Chilcott, and other traditional songs performed by the young singers of the Académie Vocale de Paris, led by Iain Simcock, who comes from the great tradition of English choir schools (Oxford, Westminster…).

A Japanese soprano for a delicate Christmas recital
On December 19th, the Japanese soprano Naoko Matsui will give an intimate piano/voice concert (accompanied by pianist Emma Sanglar), “Winter Gift from East” in Paris.
This recital is intended for everyone during this Advent season: Japanese airs, arias from La Bohème or La Wally, liturgical Christmas carols, covers of music from the famous animated films by Japanese director Miyazaki…
A potpourri performed with virtuosity before the holiday season. A way to introduce opera to new generations or non-initiates, and to delight enthusiasts.
The Good Deal: Never short of mischief, Naoko Matsui, hidden behind the organ of certain Parisian churches, will have her crystalline voice heard for an Ave Maria during the month of December. A little surprise teaser before Christmas for Parisians who know how to listen.
