A short article with a cultural connotation and especially packed with shows for this month of February 2017, because unfortunately, I didn’t have time to write an article on this theme in January (time flies too fast…).
On the program: theater, but also dance (folk and a rock ballet), and a festival for children in Gennevilliers. And then, we end this article with good news and a little surprise with invitations to be won for one of the shows I’m telling you about in this post… suspense…

L’Avaleur

Adapting Other People’s Money by Jerry Sterner, director Robin Renucci—who is also an actor and director of the Tréteaux de France, a national itinerant dramatic center whose mission is to travel across the territory to meet the public—discusses a topic currently in the zeitgeist: the evolution of stock market capitalism.
This show is the story of a successful French company that catches the fierce eye of a corporate raider… The famous “swallower” (avaleur) of the title. The play is at once funny, dramatic, and moving. You are carried away by the story of this modern tale with its naive, brave company boss and its vicious monster who wants to destroy everything for the sole pleasure of money.
Beyond being admirably directed and written, the play is elevated by top-caliber acting from the five cast members. Don’t miss the chance to see this show at the Maison des Métallos (especially since the prices are very attractive, between €5 and €14!)

Celtic Legends
I may have never told you this, but I am a huge fan of Celtic culture. And although it has completely disappeared (I’m talking about real Celtic culture, that of the Bronze and Iron Ages), I love finding a little piece of this forgotten culture in “modern Celtic culture,” as I like to call it.
It is therefore with great happiness that I will go watch 2 hours of colorful swirls and magical dances on February 25th for the fifteenth anniversary of Celtic Legends.
On the program: more than thirty artists on stage, musicians (under the musical direction of Sean Mc Carthy), and dancers, who will tell us the story of the people of the Emerald Isle to the rhythm of Jacintha Sharpe’s choreography set to traditional themes.
My opinion:
It is very impressive to see all these dancers on stage because traditional Irish dance is decidedly very technical, and the rigid posture of the upper body, in contrast with the speed of the legs and feet, commands a certain admiration.
I also found the presence of an Irish music group playing live behind the dancers, interacting with the public, very appreciable, as it brings more conviviality to the show.

Rock The Ballet
This dance show from Broadway, which has already brought together over a million spectators worldwide, is currently on tour throughout France and will notably be at the Casino de Paris on March 6 and 7. For my part, I am very impatient to discover them on March 6th. I will return to give you my feelings on the subject right here, right after that date.
The Rock The Ballet company, Bad Boys of Dance, was founded in the United States by dance superstar Rasta Thomas & choreographer and dancer Adrienne Canterna in 2007. I can’t wait to see what it looks like on stage!

Merci d’être passée
Hortense, 40, seems to have a very orderly life. But one day, she discovers that her husband is cheating on her with young Axelle.
“Merci d’être passée” is the first play by a young 22-year-old author, Danièle Mahaut. Her lively, spirited writing offers biting, humor-tinted dialogue.
The two actresses are talented. Anne Mano wonderfully portrays this 40-year-old woman who despairs of having a child and must face her doubts. Sandra Gaugue is Axelle, a sparkling but fragile firefly who will turn Hortense’s life upside down.
This beautiful, unexpected, and sensual encounter between these two women will hold many surprises for the audience. Carried by a dynamic direction by Cécile Carrère, this modern play is both moving and funny. Like a lovely bittersweet melody that you want to listen to again.
Merci d’être passée Every Saturday at 9:15 PM until April 8, 2017 Théâtre Darius Milhaud 80 allée Darius Milhaud 75019 Paris Metro Porte de Pantin duration: 1h 20m rates: from €10 to €18 Resumption of the show at the Folie Théâtre from Friday, December 8, 2017 at 7:30 PM

Organized by the city of Gennevilliers, in partnership with the Enfance et Musique association, this 3rd edition of the Young and very young audience festival will once again be an opportunity to experience 10 days of cultural and festive excitement.
On the program: shows, professional meetings, workshops, exhibitions, musical lectures, and other “poetic” bubbles will mark these days for which the artists and all the officials and partners of the City have mobilized.
