Launched in France in 1982, the Fête de la Musique, which has become a global event, is orchestrated every June 21st for the summer solstice in more than 110 countries, including about twenty in Europe.

This year, the big day falls exactly on Tuesday, June 21st! It is the perfect opportunity to spend a wonderful evening and enjoy music until the end of the night.

For the Fête

de la Musique, the Shoah Memorial is offering several concerts with multicultural themes, ranging from Tatar dance to a Prokofiev song, from Eastern Europe to the Mediterranean countries, blending traditional Jewish melodies with covers of contemporary music.

The Poet’s Gaze“, musician and author Philippe Pigeard will immerse the Musée de l’Orangerie’s audience in the “artistic Paris” of the 1900s through surprising projections and sound effects.

Musiques en Terrasse at Bercy Village

The kickoff of the Musiques en Terrasse festival at Bercy Village will be given on the day of the Fête de la Musique, Tuesday, June 21st, with a folk-pop lineup: D’Ala; Jinx Fish Pool; Nazca.

Performance by Nathalie Auzépy

As part of the Fête de la Musique 2016, the Tree of Life, a participatory and sound sculpture by Nathalie Auzépy, will be presented on the terrace of the Floréal from 6:00 PM to midnight on Tuesday, June 21st, 2016. A series of musical and dance performances will be offered to the public, who are also invited to interact with the work.

Electrosound at the Rex Club with the Espace Fondation EDF

Electrosound poster - from lab to dancefloor, Espace Fondation EDF 2016.On June 21st, the Espace Fondation EDF offers a 100% electronic music program revolving around its exhibition Electrosound, from lab to dancefloor.

The evening begins at the Espace Fondation EDF with round tables, meet-and-greets, and instrument demonstrations. It continues on the dancefloor of the Rex Club until 6:00 AM.

For the launch of the Fête de Montmartre, the Musée de Montmartre is offering a piano concert in its gardens to mark the 150th anniversary of composer Erik Satie (May 17, 1866 – July 1, 1925).

On the program: tunes by Erik Satie, Ravel, Chopin, and Debussy, through recitals performed by Aya Okuyama, who began piano at the age of 3 and approaches the musical language of the 19th century on faithfully restored historic pianos.

A series of musical-themed groves is on offer: brass, woodwinds, contemporary and amplified music, jazz, chamber music, vocal ensembles… A musical stroll in total freedom, brought to life by over 550 students from the Hauts-de-Seine conservatories (Antony, Fontenay-aux-Roses, Clamart, Châtenay-Malabry, Sceaux, Bourg-la-Reine, Montrouge, Malakoff, Bagneux, and Chatillon).

Instigator of the famous Grandes Nuits de Sceaux, the Duchess of Maine (1676-1753) loved offering atypical evenings to her guests.
