Opening of the Mk2 Grand Palais

Because I am a cinema fan and also happen to own an UGC/MK2 unlimited card, I couldn’t miss out on the cinema event of this month in Paris.

Indeed, since last Friday, November 9th, a new MK2 cinema has appeared on the Parisian film scene.

This new MK2 is located at the Grand Palais, nestled on the first floor of the monument, and is open to the general public on weekends from Friday at 8 PM until Sunday evening. During the week, it acts as a private screening room on demand.

It is the 11th cinema in the MK2 network, equipped with 104 seats, and is at the cutting edge of technical innovation (Sony CinéAlta 4K HD digital projector, 5.1 stereo Dolby sound).

If you want to go take a look and test this new cinema, here is the Christmas program from November 9th to December 30th:

  • Tribute to Edward Hopper on Friday evenings (8 PM and 10 PM screenings) featuring films related to the Grand Palais program.
  • Disneynature, on Saturdays and Sundays in the morning (11 AM and 2 PM screenings) with a program for children, favoring educational content and linking to the Palais de la Découverte. The great DisneyNature documentary films will be in the spotlight starting November 10th: Pollen, African Cats, Wings of Life before discovering, exclusively starting in February, the next DisneyNature film, Chimpanzee.
  • From Charlot to Chaplin, on Saturdays and Sundays (4 PM, 8 PM, and 10 PM screenings) with ten Charlie Chaplin films restored in high definition – The Kid, A Woman of Paris, The Circus, The Great Dictator, City Lights, Modern Times, Limelight, A King in New York, The Gold Rush, Monsieur Verdoux.
