The Forum of Foreign Cultural Institutes in Paris (FICEP), which currently brings together 53 foreign cultural centers and institutes, is organizing the 13th edition of the Foreign Cultures Week from September 19 to September 28, 2014, under the theme “flavors – colors”.
The Foreign Cultures Week aims to promote global cultural diversity and introduce foreign cultures to the public in Paris and across France.
Around fifty varied events (concerts, shows, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, film screenings, etc.), catering to all audiences, are being organized by the foreign cultural centers throughout this week.
The cultural institutes are also celebrating linguistic diversity with a Passport for Languages, created in collaboration with the General Delegation for the French Language and the Languages of France. This allows visitors to get a free introduction to over 30 foreign languages through fun workshops that blend culture and, at times, gastronomy.
On September 26, the cultural centers will also host a linguistic “speak-dating” evening, where everyone can form a conversation tandem with someone else.
Mademoiselle Bon Plan’s selection:
- The CCI (Irish Cultural Centre) is opening its ephemeral pop-up café, The Hare, and will awaken all your senses over this weekend dedicated to taste, art, and music.
Bringing together cooks, artists, and guests around vegetarian dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious, artist Fiona Hallinan will set up her pots and utensils in the courtyard of the CCI.
On the program: meet-ups and discussions, culinary workshops, and pop-indie-electro concerts by Buffalo Woman (Neil Watkins & Tim O’Donovan), Margie Jean Lewis, David Donohue,…
On September 24, 2014, there will also be an Irish language evening starting at 6 PM (free admission, booking essential as spaces are limited).
As part of the “Passport for Languages” initiative during the FICEP Foreign Cultures Week and just two days before the European Day of Languages, come and learn some basics of Irish Gaelic with teacher Aoife Curran. “Tar agus foghlaim Gaeilge linn!”
