As a prelude to the opening of the 3rd edition of the Contemporary Art Triennial which will be held from April 20th to August 26th, 2012 at the Palais de Tokyo and other institutions, contemporary artist Rirkrit Tiravanija is invited to take over the Nave of the Grand Palais this Saturday, April 7th, 2012.
He will present /Soup/No Soup/, a project that will transform the Nave of the Grand Palais for twelve hours into a gigantic festive banquet, with a menu consisting of Tom Ka soup.
During this day, the Grand Palais will be open for free to the public to share this soup, prepared and offered by the artist and his team.
Open to everyone, this project, presented for the first time in Paris, picks up under the same title—but on a larger scale—a work first presented in the exhibition dedicated to the artist in New York in January 2011.
Furthermore, if you have never been to the nave of the Grand Palais, which regularly hosts events (usually with paid admission), this is the perfect opportunity to admire its magnificent glass roof. A pure marvel of iron and glass architecture, built for the 1900 World’s Fair.
