As it is every year at the same time, the famous Paris International Agricultural Show (Salon de l’Agriculture) turns the Versailles exhibition center into a giant farm.

This year, the event runs from this weekend, Saturday, February 22nd, until Sunday, March 2nd, 2014.

As usual, after taking a quick look this Sunday with my friend Your Paris, I have put together my little selection of top tips to enjoy if you are heading to this Parisian event.

Melle Bon Plan’s little selection:

  • The Vercors stand (stand 3C19 – hall 3, aisle C, prestige area)

The Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage blue cheese will be highlighted every day at 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM with the tasting of the Vercouline (raclette made from Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage).

– Tuesday, February 25th and Wednesday, February 26th: tasting of local products from the “Fermes du Vercors” network, offered by the Association for the Promotion of the Park’s Farmers (APAP).

– Wednesday, February 26th and Thursday, February 27th: days reserved for children with games about tastes and the seasonality of the products that make up our food – Activity offered by the Association of Children’s Holiday Centers of the Vercors (ACEV).

– Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st: days focused on the Grenoble Walnut.

  • The Vegetable Oils stand (hall 2.2, stand 2.2 B 43)

Several games will allow visitors to win numerous prizes, while learning about vegetable oils produced in France in a fun way.

Throughout the duration of the show, the stand will offer visitors the chance to play a culinary video game in pairs to virtually prepare a recipe on Kinect, which will be broadcast on a giant screen. Players will have to wring, cut, mix, season, and finally choose the right oil that will enhance the recipe!

Every day, visitors will also be able to fill out a quiz, which will lead to at least one daily prize draw to win cast-iron pots.

  • On Monday, February 24th, 2014, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the Filles à Fromages (Cheese Girls) are inviting themselves to the Paris International Agricultural Show evening event, with cheese, wine, and champagne on the program.

To participate in this event (or the others, for that matter!), you must register with the Official Circle of Cheese Girls.

Visitors will be able to meet facilitators from the Syndicate who will explain the secrets of making this traditional cheese from the Basque Country and Béarn, while tastings will take the public on a journey to discover the vast aromatic palette of Ossau-Iraty, three times crowned best cheese in the world.
