I have always loved the vibe of the Halloween holiday… I can’t really tell you why… Maybe because I love the supernatural, unexplained phenomena, or just because the imagination that this holiday releases remains, for me, a unique moment in the annual calendar. Anyway, here is my traditional selection of tips to enjoy during this terrifying holiday which will take place this year, on the night of Sunday, October 31st… Unlike last year, there will be more events for Halloween and I hope you will all find the desire to get a good scare for the occasion!
A bit of history:
At the origin of this holiday is the day of Samhain, which marked the end of the Celtic year and gave spirits the opportunity to come and haunt the houses of the living. For a long time, the Catholic Church sought to get rid of this pagan commemoration. The feast of Samhain (which dates back to the 3rd century BC) included 3 days of solemnities: the 1st dedicated to the memory of heroes, the 2nd to the memories of the deceased, and the 3rd to popular and family festivities around a banquet.

Le Manoir Halloween Festival

You know that I often talk to you about the Manoir de Paris on the blog because it is a place where I enjoy going (well, in a way). The latter is obviously organizing a special event for the occasion and this year from October 22 to 31, the first Manoir Halloween Festival is taking up residence at the Grande Halle de la Villette for an experience plunging its visitors into a village straight out of the world of the dead over more than 4,000 m2 (which I was unable to test unfortunately).
On this occasion, Disney+ invites fans of scary stories to live an immersive narrative experience within the festival, inspired by its anthology series “American Horror Stories”.

Potions & Co
Potions & Co is an immersive Parisian bar (halfway between a cocktail bar and an escape game), located on Rue Saint-Honoré, in the heart of the 1st arrondissement of Paris. We really liked the concept with my favorite photographer. We went there without really knowing what to expect and we had an excellent evening. After putting on our apprentice alchemist capes, we went through one of the venue’s courses (there are several with different difficulty levels so you can return if you want to) while sipping the strange and very original house cocktails (you can choose them with or without alcohol). Each team plays a bit on its own, but some “key” scenes bring all the players together.
And for the occasion, Potions & Co is offering a special Halloween version of “The Secret of the Immortal”, their unusual and quirky experience combining magic, potions, and games, all in an evil atmosphere! Plus, on the evenings of October 30 and 31, from 9:30 PM to 1 AM, the establishment is organizing an evening offered to everyone who has booked a session of “The Secret of the Immortal” earlier in the day, also accessible to curious individuals and other novices for €15. On the program: surprising mixtures, bloody potions, and other treats from the beyond!

Halloween in FrogPubs bars, restaurants, and micro-breweries
A must-attend event in October, Halloween will be celebrated in style in the FrogPubs bars, restaurants, and micro-breweries (a brand I really like and talk about regularly on the blog) in Paris and Bordeaux. You can go there to taste the Halloween-dedicated burger, the WICKED Pumpkin Burger (a limited edition pumpkin burger). But also, the Bloody Hot Wings (chicken wings with extra hot sauce) in Paris only and the Bloody Hot Loaded Fries across all FrogPubs. The Zombie and Eye Ball Shots (lychee, raspberry, and vodka) are also making a comeback this year, a must-have to consume with your eyes closed!
For drinks, it will also be an opportunity to taste the Bewitched Pumpkin Ale, a beer infused with pumpkin and butternut, cinnamon, and nutmeg!
The tip: on October 29, 30, and 31, the burger bun will magically transform into a pumpkin with a special limited edition WICKED Pumpkin Burger available at The Frog & British Library, The Frog & Rosbif, Frog Hop House, and Frog XV, and there will also be candy distribution for children!
