Today on the blog, I’m continuing my neighborhood series and presenting yet another great spot I discovered in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, not far from the Avenue des Gobelins and right next to my work, too! Since the 13th is truly my neighborhood—where I both live and work (yes, I know, I’m very lucky!)—I’m committed to sharing more great finds in this part of the capital, which unfortunately isn’t the most attractive to most Parisians but is, in my opinion, well worth discovering.
It was during the Quinzaine Gourmande by RestoPARTNER’S (an event showcasing regional products within RestoPARTNER member establishments) held in May 2016 that I went for lunch at this beautiful establishment. These culinary fortnights take place 4 times a year, for each season. For your information, the summer edition will take place from Monday, July 11 to Sunday, July 24, 2016. As a side note, Pharamond (which I’ve already mentioned on the blog) is also part of this group of independent restaurateurs.
This restaurant, with its 1900s atmosphere and very Belle Epoque decor, also has another location in the 17th arrondissement on Avenue des Ternes: Le Petit Marguery, Right Bank. In the kitchen, we find Chef Stéphane Mangin, who offers traditional French bourgeois cuisine with typical dishes from the Hexagon. Everything is well prepared, and the products are truly top quality.

Must-try:
- For a starter, a classic from back home (my parents live in the Ain): the sautéed frog legs with parsley and garlic. It was a lovely surprise; as someone who is used to eating frog legs, I found these particularly good and meaty (supplement of €5 compared to the set menu).
- The yellow pollock fillet with aioli (a little treat of mine, which I loved making myself when I still lived with my parents), served with whelks and spring vegetables.
- The Rossini-style beef fillet, with foie gras sauce and asparagus (supplement of €5 compared to the set menu).
- The Carpentras strawberries, with timut pepper syrup and chiboust cream—this was actually the dessert from the Spring Culinary Fortnight organized by RestoPartner.
- The raspberry flambéed soufflé for a more modern update of this ultra-classic dessert. A real delight, an absolute must-try because it is obviously one of the house’s traditional signature desserts!

In conclusion, I would say that this is a wonderful Parisian spot for a meal that is out of the ordinary; the venue and the cuisine remain very classic, but it is well done, and the classy atmosphere of the establishment along with the high standard of service and hospitality are highly appreciated. It is, therefore, the perfect place for a special occasion.
Insider tip: right next to this address, you’ll find Le Comptoir Marguery, a more bistronomic version of Le Petit Marguery and also a little less expensive.
Price: May menu with 1 starter + 1 main course + 1 dessert + 1 coffee and petits fours + 1 mineral water (75 cl) for €41.50
