How to keep your little ones busy during the Christmas holidays (giveaway inside)

The long-awaited Christmas holidays are finally here, but you’re surely wondering how you can keep your dear little ones occupied during this festive season?

Since I am dedicated to my dear readers and I’m thinking of you (because personally, I don’t have any children), I have put together a little selection of Parisian ideas to help you in this arduous task (it’s my way of sympathizing).

The musical show Pinocchio

Poster for Pinocchio the musical show, December 21 to January 5, Théâtre de Paris.

This musical show blending dance and singing numbers returns for the little ones and their parents at the Théâtre de Paris throughout the Christmas holidays.

The troupe, composed of 10 dancers, singers, and actors, transports the audience for 1 hour and 15 minutes to a Tuscan village to rediscover the story of the most famous wooden puppet.

Théâtre de Paris

from Saturday, December 21 to Sunday, January 5 (Exceptional closures on December 25 and January 1)

The show will also be touring throughout France from December 7, 2013, to February 26, 2014

Free carousels for little Parisians

For the Christmas holidays (like every year), from December 21, 2013, to January 5, 2014, about twenty carousels are taking over the capital. Children will be able to hop on wooden horses and futuristic vehicles for free.

The list of Parisian locations where these carousels are installed is right here.

Cyrano de Bergerac in a clownish version

Four clowns in stage costumes, some pretending to sleep.Clown with makeup and red tights performing in front of a projection in the shape of an elephant.Clown Cyrano playing with his projected shadow, children's show.

A priori, if I say Cyrano de Bergerac to you, your first reaction wouldn’t really be to take your children to see this play.

Well, for once you would be wrong, since Damien Luce (yes, yes, he is indeed the brother of the other Luce) has taken this magnificent classic text (which is in its original version on stage) but with a free adaptation in both the costumes and the acting style, turning it into a clownish version.

Your children (you should definitely seat them in the front row) might even have the chance to take their first steps on stage, and who knows, after this performance, it might just spark some vocations…

I haven’t had the opportunity to discover this show unfortunately, however, I find the concept great: Christelle Philippe, an actress, is the creator of a show for toddlers, which is quite rare, it must be said.

This aerial show is sprinkled with music, dance, and singing and tells the story of birth, awakening, and discovering the world

You know it, the Quai Branly museum is one of my favorite cultural partners, and for the Christmas holidays (from 12/21/2013 to 01/05/2014), it offers to experience Another Christmas: a moment of sharing and dialogue with Malian children refugees in Burkina Faso. A big toy drive will also be organized as every year.

The museum welcomes back, two years after the success of the show The Puppet Master that I had mentioned here, the puppeteers of the National Water Puppet Theatre of Vietnam for 10 exceptional performances from December 26 to December 30, 2013.

This new creation is the Vietnamese adaptation of three famous fairy tales by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen: The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Ugly Duckling, and The Little Mermaid.
