At the beginning of this year, we’re all trying to keep our resolutions: to go to the cinema more often, not to miss the films everyone is talking about, and to discover the ones we’ll be recommending to others.
If, on top of that, you want to catch up on all the films you didn’t manage to see in the cinema last year, I have two great deals for you, as well as my personal selection of 2011 films to help you make your choice.
Indeed, UGC and Mk2 are each offering their own little catch-up sessions for films released in 2011, at the very attractive price of €3 per screening.
The UGC Incontournables (Must-Sees) event allows you to see or re-watch, from January 11 to 17, 2012, 23 films that defined the year 2011, in UGC cinemas all over France.
The films (with those I recommend you see, if you haven’t already, in bold):
- EVEN THE RAIN by Iciar Bollain
- INCENDIES by Denis Villeneuve
- THE KING’S SPEECH by Tom Hooper
- BLACK SWAN by Darren Aronofsky
- THE WOMEN ON THE 6TH FLOOR by Philippe Le Guay
- TRUE GRIT by Ethan Coen & Joel Coen
- WINTER’S BONE by Debra Granik
- TOMBOY by Céline Sciamma
- THE STRANGER by Feo Aladag
- MIDNIGHT IN PARIS by Woody Allen
- THE TREE OF LIFE by Terrence Malick – Palme d’Or – Cannes Film Festival 2011
- THE KID WITH A BIKE by Luc Dardenne – Grand Prix – Cannes Film Festival 2011
- A SEPARATION by Asghar Farhadi
- MELANCHOLIA by Lars Von Trier – Best Actress Award – Cannes Film Festival 2011
- DECLARATION OF WAR by Valérie Donzelli

- WHERE DO WE GO NOW? by Nadine Labaki
- DRIVE by Nicolas Winding Refn – Best Director Award – Cannes Film Festival 2011
