My free Parisian summer guide 2014: music festivals

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

As I mentioned last year, staying in Paris during the summer isn’t necessarily a punishment, provided you know how to make the most of it, as there is an abundance of free events during this summer period.

With the month of June, various Parisian free festivals have started to pop up in the capital, some of which will run until the beginning of September.

So, I’m sticking to my idea of putting together a little guide of the free events and festivals that you can discover in the capital this summer.

I will divide this article into 3 parts: I’ll make a post focused more on music festivals for this first part, the 3rd article will cover open-air cinema screenings, and the 2nd will bring together all the remaining festivals, shows, and activities.

In this setting, the 2014 Victoires du Jazz ceremony was held this year on the evenings of June 12 and 13.

The concerts are free; only the park entrance fee (€5.50) remains payable, which is still a great deal.

On the agenda: deckchairs, food trucks, free concerts from Monday to Friday (discovery mode), showcases, techno/house days, after-work events with DJs, foosball & pétanque on the (rare!) days without concerts, Saturday afternoon clubbing from noon to midnight, and family Sundays with brunch, flea markets, and activities of all kinds.

A little new feature this year at LaPlage: a section will be covered to compensate for any capricious weather…
