Taste Week 2014

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

The 25th edition of Taste Week is currently taking place all over France from October 13th to October 19th, 2014.

Taste Week, which has been held every year in October since 1990, aims to educate consumers, especially children, about taste and flavors. It also seeks to provide educational information about food trades, products, their origins, production methods, and specific characteristics, as well as to pass on skills and encourage healthy and sustainable eating habits.

The program for this wonderful event includes taste workshops (led by chefs, some free and others paid), taste tables (restaurants offering special menus at reduced prices during Taste Week), taste lessons (organized in schools by food industry professionals), and various activities in markets or shops.

Mademoiselle Bon Plan’s mini-selection:

  • The Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet shop will be at the Ministry of Culture on Monday, October 13, 2014, to showcase products made by agricultural high schools (terrines, prepared meals, sweet treats, wines, and champagnes).
  • Many Food Trucks are preparing a surprise from the Chef from October 13 to 19 for every menu purchased.
  • Healthy cooking workshops for all audiences: children, adults, students, and working professionals with Les Rencontres Cuisine & Santé.
  • For this Taste Week, children take center stage at La Belle Assiette with cooking classes for little chefs to learn the basics of gastronomy by preparing pastries or even a full meal.
  • The bistronomic restaurant “Ô À La Bouche,” at the legendary Hôtel Le Radiana located in the thermal village of La Léchère-Les-Bains, is hosting friendly gatherings with regional French producers (from the Alps, Périgord, etc.), free tastings, themed dinners, and cooking workshops for the occasion.
