Great news for fans of Parisian gardens: President Hollande has decided to open the Elysée garden to the public on the first Sunday of every month, a tradition that has been in place since October 2012.
Indeed, this hectare and a half of presidential greenery will be open for free to visitors (in addition to its annual opening during the European Heritage Days) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from October to March and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April to September.
This unique English-style garden is currently the work of Yannick Cadet, the head gardener, who has been maintaining the beauty of the grounds since 1990.
Among the treasures of this park, you will be able to admire a 45-meter-tall century-old tree, boxwood hedges, and several varieties of hibiscus.
You will also be able to see the spot that served as the backdrop for the famous official portrait of François Hollande, taken by Raymond Depardon, which caused quite a stir.
