The winter holidays have arrived for the Paris region. Today, I’m offering a great tip to keep your little ones busy in a smart way during this period.
The Quai Branly Museum invites families during the winter holidays, around the Cherish Your Hair: Frivolities and Trophies exhibition, to discover hair in all its forms.
On the program from Saturday, March 2 to Sunday, March 10, 2013:
- a film cycle that highlights hair through different worlds: from Gene Tierney’s hair in Shanghai Gesture, to Candice Bergen’s blonde Cheyenne hair in Soldier Blue, and as an identity marker (white and black in Imitation of Life), to hairstyles as political claims by the Black Panthers (eponymous documentary by Agnès Varda) or Blaxploitation films (Foxy Brown). Of particular note: the documentary Good Hair, which questions African Americans about their hair and what it says about their identity.
- a workshop tour guided by videos and hairstylist-blogger Frédéric Birault (CutbyFred), inviting visitors to create hairstyles
- storytellers offer families the chance to participate daily in readings of tales and legends where hair and hairstyles appear across different continents.
- discussions and meetings with artists and associations also take place on March 8 for International Women’s Day.
