Since my adventure at the Manoir de Paris, you might have noticed that I like a good scare.
So when my friend Petite Parisienne suggested I join her at the mysterious INPEZ (National Institute for Prevention and Education against Zombies) conference to prepare us for a potential zombie epidemic, I was more than motivated!
The event was organized around the airing of the series The Walking Dead in France on the channel Sundance Channel starting January 12th, every Thursday evening at 11:00 PM.
This American series (whose second season is currently airing in the USA) is adapted from the famous comic book of the same name.
Produced by the AMC network, to whom we already owe two other phenomenal series (Mad Men and Breaking Bad), the show offers a dive into the daily life of a humanity crumbling amidst a post-apocalyptic environment.
The first season begins by following the adventures of Sheriff Rick Grimes, who wakes up alone in a Kentucky hospital after a long coma. Upon waking, he realizes that humanity is an endangered species since almost the entire world population has been transformed into zombies. Nice, right?
For my part, last year I was able to discover the entire first season at the Festival Série Mania, which takes place every year at the Forum des Images (and which I will tell you more about in due time). Indeed, the organizers had the bright idea to broadcast the 6 episodes of season 1 during a The Walking Dead night on the big screens at the Forum des Images.
For fans of the genre, the series is very enjoyable to watch, if you can handle the moralizing heroism of the main character which can sometimes be a bit over-the-top.
Sundance Channel is available on the following broadcast channels: Channel 221 on SFR; Channel 39 on Free; Channel 114 on Numéricable.
