The new school year is a major highlight of the Parisian cultural scene, during which Nuit Blanche stands out as a must-see event.
This year, under the artistic direction of José-Manuel Gonçalvès, the 2014 edition will take place on the night of Saturday, October 4th, from 7 PM until the early hours of the morning.
Around fifty artists—including over thirty international ones—will participate in this free event dedicated to contemporary art.
The 2014 Nuit Blanche program promises some wonderful surprises, with numerous works presented in unexpected places, some of which are usually closed to the public.

#StreetArt, from spray paint to QR codes at the Espace Fondation EDF
The exhibition offers a historical panorama of Street Art from its origins to the 2000s. Archive documents, photographs, magazines, and propaganda posters are all types of media presented to explain the evolution of this artistic movement.
From the invention of the first spray paint cans to the use of fire extinguishers, and through the digitalization of documents to the arrival of the web, artists have constantly evolved the discipline over the last 45 years. Always innovating, they have reinvented the codes of Street Art by offering new forms of expression, constantly enriching interaction with the public.
Naturally interactive, the #StreetArt exhibition is an opportunity for visitors to try their hand at the discipline with three workshop-works that will be freely accessible.
For Nuit Blanche: exceptional opening from 7 PM to 2 AM with a DJ mix, performances by Rezine, Jadikan, and the Bento collective.

The G.R.A. (Great Artistic Hike) route
Conceived by José-manuel Gonçalvès, artistic director of this 2014 edition, 6 routes are proposed via the Great Artistic Hike, marked by six viewpoints, organized across the capital and its suburbs: “Composed Futures,” “Those We Are,” “In the Light of the Trees,” “Open Museum Street Art,” “I Perf, They Perf… We Dance,” and the “Magnetic Ascensions” routes.
Performances and places not to be missed:
- The installation by Pakistani artist Imran Qureshi at the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève (if only for the location, which is just magnificent!).
- The visual and sound installation by Pablo Valbuena at the Gare d’Austerlitz. One of my favorites from this edition, absolutely not to be missed, it’s incredible!
- The carte blanche given to Jef Aérosol (one of the historical figures of street art in France) at the Halle Freyssinet.
- The installation by artist Swoon and the food trucks that will be stationed around Gare Masséna (13th arrondissement).
- The performances along the Petite Ceinture of the 15th arrondissement, notably the incredibly poetic one by Yoann Bourgeois with a trampoline.
