This Italian spot in the 5th arrondissement, very close to the Gare d’Austerlitz and the Jardin des Plantes, is run by real Neapolitans and offers traditional cuisine from Southern Italy.
Since it’s not too far from my workplace, we went to check it out on a weekday lunch with my favorite photographer.

The welcome at this totally authentic family restaurant is very warm, and the decor, although a bit old-fashioned, has kept all its charm.
On the menu, you’ll find famous Neapolitan pizzas, antipasti, and pasta dishes, based on fresh products imported directly from the Campania region.
Near the entrance, there is also a small deli corner where you can find some of these Italian products.

To try:
- Small fresh bruschetta offered by the house to whet the appetite, as an aperitif.

- The Tartufo pizza with mozzarella, parmesan, and truffle cream (€23). Here, we are dealing with a very good pizza with a very thick crust; personally, I prefer thin crusts, but when it comes to pizza, everyone has their preference… In any case, the balance of truffle is well-executed, and it’s not too overpowering.

- For the main course, I let myself be guided by the hostess and I tasted one of the restaurant’s specialties, the squid ink pasta with seafood (€20). Apparently, it’s a Sicilian or Neapolitan recipe (I didn’t quite catch which). It was very original and delicious.

- For dessert, obviously, I melted for the very good homemade tiramisu (€8), smooth and creamy as you could wish.

- We also tested the Cassata Siciliana (€6), a traditional Sicilian cake with ricotta and candied fruits, which we found very sweet and a bit heavy.

Wines: very nice selection of Italian wines and a beautiful collection of bottles; unfortunately, as I came for my weekday lunch break, there was no question of drinking alcohol because I had to return to work sober (yes, I know, I am very serious!).

Price: starters between €13 and €15 / pizzas between €9 and €23 / pasta between €13 and €23
