Finding your 2016 Christmas Yule log

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

It is almost Christmas and as you may have noticed, I am writing more and more articles on this theme. Today, I’m going to make you salivate (or at least, I hope so!) with my selection of Christmas logs to wrap up your festive meal on a high note. The search for the Christmas log is a bit like hesitating between Ladurée and Pierre Hermé macarons; it’s a matter of taste…

Anyway, here is my little (and obviously non-exhaustive) selection of Christmas desserts that I was able to discover a little ahead of time and that I would love to find on my Christmas table or at New Year’s Eve (it’s nice to dream!) …

The Angelina Log

Angelina is offering an extremely airy White Peacock log this year, a creation by pastry chef Christophe Appert.

The Peacock log is composed of a crispy base blending lace crepe and crumble with white chocolate and cocoa butter. Its fruity heart is a layering of orange, passion fruit, and mango jellies with an almond sponge biscuit. Everything is coated in a vanilla mousse and a lemon-lime cream.

  • A more chocolatey log (without being sickly sweet) with the Kalingo Grand Cru log

The “Butterfly Flight” log from the Trianon Palace Versailles

For the holiday season, the Pastry Chef of the Trianon Palace Versailles (an establishment I have already talked to you about on the blog), Eddie Benghanem, has signed Christmas pastries inspired by the poetry of the Deyrolle house (an incredible shop in the 7th arrondissement of Paris).

White mousse cake decorated with sugar butterflies on a wooden board.

In addition, Eddie Benghanem also presents his individual bites for young and old alike. Playful and creative, they are a tribute to the enchanting and animal imagery of Deyrolle.

Cupcake decorated with a chocolate lion face in a display stand. Crunchy chocolate bite decorated with a yellow sugar-paste tiger head.

Price: €75 / log for 8 people
The 3 individual bites: €15
Available at the Trianon Palace Versailles on order 48h in advance starting December 15, 2016
