My favorite Greek restaurants in Paris

Today on the blog, I’m sharing a small selection of Greek restaurants in Paris. This is a list of the places I’ve had the chance to try in the capital, as I find this cuisine truly tasty and very varied, depending on the regions of Greece. The Parisian spots I am introducing below are quite different from one another. And as usual, I update this article regularly as I test new places and make new discoveries!

This family-run Greek establishment was founded in 2005 by sisters Maria and Dina Nikolaou. Today, the brand has several grocery/deli locations in Paris, a corner at La Samaritaine, an event catering service, and a restaurant located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, which we went to test with my favorite photographer. You’ll find the generous Greek cuisine of chef Dina, who is a true ambassador of this gastronomy in France; she has also published several books with her recipes and is very famous in Greece for her television shows.

Must-try: the house-made “Evi Evane” tarama with candied lemons (€12); Htapodi, a Greek dish with octopus served here with fava bean puree (€28); the “Evi Evane” moussaka, which might be the best moussaka I’ve ever had (€28); for dessert, the portokalopita, an orange cake that Dina makes with phyllo dough (€10), and the pistachio Ekmek, a traditional brioche cake with syrup and vanilla cream (€10); the place also offers a very fine selection of wines from all over Greece, especially Retsina, that white wine produced in Greece for millennia, obtained by adding pine resin to the wine during fermentation.

Evi Evane

This small Greek restaurant located a stone’s throw from the Place de la République offers authentic, fresh, and tasty Greek cuisine. You’ll mainly find Greek street food here, but also a selection of mezzes made with high-quality products. The place is quite small, but there are a few tables inside the restaurant and also a mini-terrace in front for sunny days. I highly recommend testing the kolokithokeftedes, zucchini fritters (€11 for 6), or the ktipiti, a mezze based on feta and red peppers, a bit spicy and super good (€8).

On the menu: mezzes to share (between €4 and €14), skewers marinated for 24 hours (€16) made fresh daily (souvlaki), pitas (€10), Greek salads (€13.50), chicken gyros (€16) prepared and mounted on the spit daily… for drinks, you will find Greek wines but also the famous blonde Greek beer, Mythos (€5).

The Greek street-food chain Gallika has opened a pop-up in the heart of La Samaritaine in Paris. You can primarily find pitas and bowls there that you can compose with very good Greek products: feta, eggplant caviar, tzatziki, Kalamata olives, paprika chicken, grilled halloumi… And apart from this ephemeral pop-up, the brand has no less than 8 locations in Paris.

This spot offers a nice menu of original signature cocktails, but also a very sharp selection of Greek wines. It’s all accompanied by particularly tasty Franco-Greek cuisine to share. Also, don’t miss the chef’s delicious desserts, who is also a pastry chef, and it shows. Like the dulcey moelleux with its dulce de leche (€8) or the coconut mousse (€8).

This spot with chic and cozy decor is located facing the Seine, Quai des Grands Augustins. During a lovely evening, I had the chance to discover part of chef Paul Evanfelopoulos‘s menu. His selection of mezzes is very convincing and indulgent, full of flavors and colors. I also recommend testing the establishment’s cocktails, which are of very high quality and also very original as they are prepared with Greek spirits (try the MetaXour, a sour with Metaxa).

La Maison Mavrommatis is above all a family of Cypriot origin, and since 1981, it has been a reference in the field of Mediterranean cuisine in Paris. Mainly anchored in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, Mavrommatis has no less than 4 restaurants in the capital, a catering service, a wine cellar, and fine grocery boutiques. The products are selected with care by Andreas Mavrommatis himself, who travels the roads of Greece several times a year in search of exceptional dishes and flawless quality from the best artisans.
