This year, this wonderful event known as Nuit Blanche will take place this Saturday, October 5th, where artistic creations and projects take over the city in a mysterious and poetic atmosphere.
As is very often the case, I will be away from Paris for this date—a curse I’ve been dragging around for several years—but because I am particularly kind to you (one must toot one’s own horn from time to time), I will still offer my usual little selection for this evening that you really shouldn’t miss (unless you’re in Quebec like me).
This year, the 2013 edition of Nuit Blanche unfolds along the banks of the Seine, the Canal Saint-Martin, and the neighborhoods of République, Marais, Belleville, and Ménilmontant for one magical night.
But Nuit Blanche will also happen throughout the Île-de-France region, across the country, and even abroad (unfortunately for me, Montreal’s Nuit Blanche is in February…).
Melle Bon Plan’s mini-selection:
- The Musée du Quai Branly will provide free access to its spaces, where photography will be in the spotlight until 1:00 AM
- Many Parisian museums will open the doors to their collections for free for the event
- The National Assembly will be open for night visits from 7:00 PM to 2:30 AM
- The BHV department store will be exceptionally open from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, featuring the screening of the video artwork “La Domination du Monde” (2012) by Niel Béloufa in the BHV space located at 38 rue de la Verrerie
Top tip: to travel from one neighborhood to another, RATP is setting up a special service for Nuit Blanche, with certain lines operating all night for free (between 2:15 AM and 5:30 AM)!
