Wine bars in Paris, my favorite spots

If you’ve been following my blog for a little while, you must know that I am a huge wine lover and that it is a subject I am passionate about (I even have a section on the blog dedicated to it)! I love going out to discover appellations, practicing wine tourism, and uncovering some great addresses related to wine. Today, I’m offering a little article on the blog that gathers a selection of several great wine bars that I’ve had the chance to test in Paris. And most of them are also what we call “caves à manger” (wine cellar bistros), which offer plates to share in addition to their beautiful bottles.

As usual with this type of article, I will update it regularly with my new discoveries so I can keep sharing my best Parisian wine bar recommendations with you!

I’m taking you over to Les Halles to discover the annex of the Parisian institution Chez Denise: Chez Jack. Chez Jack is the wine bar for Chez Denise (Jack was the mustachioed gentleman in the photos at the venue and Denise’s partner), but you can also enjoy all the traditional French dishes from the famous restaurant right next door! Specifically their liver cake, which is a little childhood treat of mine (my dad’s is the best), but what a joy to find it on the menu; it’s super rare… What I liked about this place is that you are immediately transported to the Paris of yesteryear with a very friendly atmosphere, and it’s really nice.

Les Caves du Louvre

These cellars are located in the very heart of Paris, in a magical and historic setting, beneath an 18th-century private mansion listed as a historical monument that once belonged to the candle maker and sommelier to King Louis XV. The venue offers 600m² of fully renovated vaulted cellars, providing a way to discover the world of wine through an interactive journey dedicated to French wines and terroirs. You can participate in a blending workshop to create your own wine. For two hours, you are guided step by step through the creation of your own vintage with a Head Sommelier, becoming a winemaker for the duration of a workshop and learning everything there is to know about wine.

Using a worksheet, you perform tests and trials to try to find your perfect blend. It is in any case a very enriching experience, which I had never had the opportunity to try before this workshop. Once the blend is defined, you even have the possibility of creating a unique bottle by designing your own label.

The venue also occasionally organizes new-genre wine-artistic afterworks called “Du Vin à l’Oeuvre” (From Wine to Work of Art) centered on Art and Wine with Vinochromie. These evenings are halfway between an art opening, an afterwork, a cocktail party, and an oenological tasting. Each time, about ten works of art will be exhibited in the cellar, each inspired by a wine offered for tasting. New afterworks focused not on food and wine pairings, but on art and wine…

The tip: you can also come freely to this space to discover the cellars, the temporary exhibition, and get access to the tasting bar for free.

Les Amoureuses Bis is a cave à manger (wine cellar bistro) and a wine bar located near Place de la Bastille. This address is the little sister of the restaurant Les Amoureuses, opened about 3 years ago by Alena Iampolskaia and Benjamin Leroy. Here, you’ll find a very beautiful and refined selection of wines and a friendly atmosphere centered around one large communal table. When it comes to the wines, I recommend letting yourself be guided by Alena‘s personal favorites, which will take you off the beaten path.

This gastronomic hideout offers plates to share, simple but well-executed and featuring quality products. Think, for example, of the revisited spicy tuna makis, egg mayonnaise, the homemade knife-cut beef tartare, or even the melty, nostalgic croque with Comté cheese and ham. And to finish on a sweet note, we let ourselves be tempted by an airy chocolate mousse, accompanied by a small glass of Ratafia.

Vinosfera

This wonderful little wine bar address is located in the Marais, on rue François Miron. On the menu, you’ll find mostly French and biodynamic wines, but also a fine grocery section from the Middle East with good products and Iranian craftsmanship. There’s also a small food menu perfect for a very nice Iranian-influenced wine + tapas aperitif. I also fell in love with the establishment’s vaulted cellar, which has so much charm!

To taste: kashk dademjan, grilled eggplants, dried mint, fried onion, curdled milk (8 €); mast-o-khiar, yogurt with cucumber, rose petals, and dried mint (6 €); eggplant caviar (8 €); assortment of Lebanese and Iranian pastries (5.50 €).

Otto, bistronomy and wines rue Mouffetard

This great address on rue Mouffetard blends small plates to share with a fine wine list (mostly natural, organic, or biodynamic). It opened its doors in October 2023. We had a soft spot for it at the time of its opening, and a new test in 2023 confirmed our feelings. The menu is signed by MOF and Michelin-starred chef Eric Trochon. On the program are small tapas-style plates featuring well-magnified products and a curated selection of organic and biodynamic wines to accompany it all. Add a hyper-friendly atmosphere and good vibes, and you get a place where you just want to sit down and enjoy the present moment…

La Cave des Climats

100m from the Michelin-starred restaurant Les Climats, Carole Colin and Denis Jamet (both sommeliers) opened a friendly place in 2016 where you can taste but also take home the wines chosen by Les Climats.

La Cave des Climats (in homage to the Burgundian climats, obviously) offers a selection of a few hundred references. While Burgundies dominate (at 60%, which I certainly don’t mind), they aren’t the only ones on the shelves of this warm lair. Among this high-flying assortment are grower Champagnes (Egly-Ouriet, Agrapart, Drappier…), Jura wines (Stéphane Tissot), Jurançon (Camin Larredya), Loire wines (Blot, Mellot…), Provence (La Bégude), Roussillon (Gauby), and Bordeaux (the Roc de Cambes and Tertre Roteboeuf from Mitjavile…).

The place is also a “cave à manger” (wine-tasting eatery) in addition to a shop. At the bar, at a long communal table, or at small square tables, you can snack on charcuterie from Conquet (Laguiole), cheeses chosen at Terroirs d’Avenir, smoked salmon or tarama from Barthouil (an address I’ve already told you about on the blog), in harmony with the bottles on the shelves, which are accessible for a “corkage fee” of only 8 €.

The Cave also used to organize (check if it’s still the case) monthly meetings with winemakers who come to taste their wines and tell their story. While the B3 evenings (for Bourgogne Bourgogne Bourgogne) are dedicated to Burgundians, the C3 (for Coup de Coeur de la Cave) host producers from the rest of France. These meetings are by reservation via the Les Climats newsletter (newsletter subscription via the websites of Les Climats or La Cave, or on-site as well!).

I’m taking you to the 9th on rue Rodier, for an oenological and bistronomic marathon in 2 establishments opened by chef Marc Favier (formerly 1-star at Marcore). We start with an aperitif at the Cave du Tire-Bouchon, helmed by Alexandre Morlier, formerly a sommelier for David Toutain. He sets the tone with good-natured passion in this spot where people come to discover beautiful bottles, all accompanied by some well-crafted small plates featuring quality products. As for the restaurant side at Tire-Bouchon Rodier, they keep the vibe of a friendly wine bar mixed with bistronomic plates to share. The address was also awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide in 2026.

This address, located in the 10th in Paris, is the eating cellar of chef Juan Arbelaez. We tested their Rendez-vous Vignerons evenings which take place every first Wednesday of the month. The concept is simple: a wine theme presented by a personality from the wine world and an assortment of the chef’s tapas to share, using a single set menu at 50€ per person. We therefore tasted 5 vintages from southern winemakers, selected that evening by sommelier Seb Pradal, all in a friendly and communicatively epicurean atmosphere. We made some great oenological discoveries and feasted on the chef’s tapas and dishes. The next date will be December 3, 2025 with 100% bubbles to prepare for the holidays.

This address is located in the charming rue Sainte-Marthe in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. Martha is designed as a counter for sharing good wines, featuring a nice selection of natural wines by Vin des Potes. This eating cellar also offers small plates to share, prepared with very good products, all in a very warm and friendly setting.

On the menu for these tapas plates, top-quality blinis and Scottish salmon served with sea urchin tarama (12 €), smoked labneh with mustard pickles (7 €), fried chicken with miso aioli and satay sauce (12 €), or even this croque on country bread with bone-in ham, béchamel, emmental, and comté (12 €), a true poem. For dessert, we found comfort in this Willy meringue, whipped cream, and red fruit coulis (10 €) and also with this slice of frangipane galette from Maison Aleph (9 €).

Martha

This brand offers several physical locations with 2 YARD addresses in Paris (a restaurant, bar, and wine merchant in the 11th and another address in the 8th) and 3 addresses in Lyon. For our part, with the favorite photographer, we went to spend a lovely evening at the Mont-Louis address in the 11th, in order to discover the restaurant and the bar. The place offers gourmet products from very good artisans and winemakers via their Culinaries merchant site in a short supply chain.

At Yard Mont-Louis, it’s the temple of natural wine and 100% of what is offered in wine comes from this type of viticulture. Regarding food, we tested some tapas plates to share and I must say we feasted. It is well made, the products are excellent, and there is a little touch of originality that approaches bistronomy.

We tasted: the fried enokis (Asian mushrooms) with hazelnut tahini (9 €); the squid ink tarama (10 €); the leek tarte tatin with parmesan vinaigrette (11 €); the beef cromesquis with béarnaise mayonnaise (14 €); the BBQ sardines with chimichurri sauce and bergamot (15 €); for dessert, the meringue with lemongrass curd, candied ginger, and lime (10 €).

Pépite, the eating cellar

This little gem in the 11th arrondissement really lives up to its name, and we had a wonderful evening there discovering Armenian wines, for example, while enjoying some delicious sharing plates. It’s the kind of place I can recommend with my eyes closed!

At Pépite, you’ll find top-notch bistronomic sharing plates. The flavor combinations are perfectly balanced, and everything is fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and trendy with lovely interior decor and a small terrace with benches in front of the establishment. As for the service, it is extremely pleasant and friendly, and the managers provide very good advice on wines (and they have a very interesting selection) and pairings with the dishes offered. I also found it very affordable compared to the quality on the plate! Expect to pay between €5 and €14 for sharing plates and between €18 and €23 for plates/main dishes.

To try: pork cheek croquettes with herb yogurt (€5); sea urchin tarama with Espelette pepper and lemon (€7.50); asparagus with creamy egg yolk, mustard seeds, and garlic chips (€11); artichokes barigoule with fresh goat cheese, preserved lemon condiment, and toasted almonds (€11); lamb kebab with homemade pita bread, garlic cream, and condiments (€10); lemon tartlet with Italian meringue, lemon gel, and salted butter pistachio praline (€11).

This establishment, located in the heart of Bercy Village—which was the nerve center of the wine trade in France in the 19th century—boasts a legendary wine cellar in Paris, with nearly 300 wine references! The concept of the place? Each guest is invited upon arriving at the restaurant to go down into the vaulted 19th-century wine cellar to discover, in the company of a sommelier, the bottle that will accompany their meal. Each bottle is offered at the wine merchant price plus a €10 corkage fee, for any bottle. Good news for your wallet! As for the food, I was less convinced by this spot, but it remains a very cool place for wine lovers.

Fagot

Fagot is a restaurant and eatery hidden in a charming passage in the heart of the 17th arrondissement in Paris. The address, which is also a wine bar, offers a wall of bottles featuring mainly French wines, but the idea is to surprise guests by offering lesser-known labels or ones that differ from what we are used to in terms of major appellations. I highly recommend letting yourself be tempted by the expert advice of the wine enthusiasts who work here. The setting is chic and pleasant, and perfect for an intimate meal, for example.

As for the food, we tasted the hispi cabbage with spicy oil (€13), the salmon tataki with a carrot mousseline (€20), the truffle croque monsieur (€16), which is clearly the establishment’s signature dish that you shouldn’t miss, the melt-in-the-mouth pulled pork which is cooked for 5 hours (€18), and for dessert, a chocolate ganache with a pear condiment (€9.50). The place offers sophisticated, original, and gourmet cuisine that is very well executed.

Montijo, the Spanish wine cellar in the Batignolles district

Montijo is a Spanish eatery with a wine cellar located in the Batignolles district of Paris. The venue, with its very warm decor, immerses us in the atmosphere of a typical hacienda, and in the center of the establishment, you can find a magnificent stained-glass window made especially for the restaurant.

This spot exclusively offers a lovely selection of natural wines from around the Mediterranean, and the house head sommelier, Jose Gonzalez, will happily talk to you with passion about his extremely refined selection. To accompany all of that, there is a culinary offering focused on homemade tapas inspired by Spanish and Basque cuisine. On the menu: tortilla (12 €), blue prawns from New Caledonia (12 €), lentil salad with piquillos, onions, and iberico chorizo (11 €), chickpea salad (9 €), and boards of Iberian cheeses and charcuterie (boards between 21 € and 35 €). A beautiful spot that I warmly recommend for a lovely evening discovering original Mediterranean wines.

La Bougeotte, the floating wine bar

Moored in the bassin de la Villette, the La Bougeotte barge is at the dock when it is in Paris, but its concept is to roam between Dijon and Paris the rest of the time. Indeed, this floating wine bar (managed by a former sailor) drops anchor in Paris every year starting in the autumn.

You can enjoy good wines there, sourced directly from producers during the boat’s annual trips in an eco-friendly approach (even if you can also find a few other French wines on the menu), and tasty French-style tapas! La Bougeotte mainly offers organic, biodynamic, or natural wines. In addition to wines, the spot also offers cocktails (between 4.50 € and 8 €) but only based on wine, such as the Communard or the Soupe angevine.

Food side: La Bougeotte works with an oyster farmer from Normandy and thus offers oysters (10 € for 6 No. 3 oysters) and other seafood every day; I also recommend you try the ravioli au gratin with chorizo, which is very comforting (7.50 €); and the croques to share (10 € in veggie version or not).

The plus: La Bougeotte is also a wine merchant and offers its wines and other products for takeaway.
