When Petite Parisienne suggested I test out this brunch spot in the Galerie Vivienne, an area whose atmosphere I truly love, I was obviously thrilled right away.
So, Cathy, Petite Parisienne, and I met up at A Priori Thé one Sunday afternoon to take our time, and really enjoy the moment.
First off, this place is timeless. You feel comfortable there, and the atmosphere of the gallery brings with it the vibe of a bygone century. If you visit in the summer, I recommend booking a table in the gallery to make the most of the light; however, in winter, I suggest sitting inside to avoid any drafts.
As for the brunch itself, it is extremely generous and well worth the €30 price tag.
On the menu:
- A glass of fresh squeezed orange or apple juice
- A hot drink (Dammann tea, hot chocolate, or Verlet coffee)
- Mini-scones, muffins, and corn bread served with homemade jams.
- A bowl of fromage blanc with fruit coulis, dried fruits, and cereal
- A dish of the day of your choice: I chose the blue heaven tart, a small baked omelet with Cantal and Fourme d’Ambert cheese, spinach sprouts, served with salad
- A glass of wine (white, red, or rosé)
- A dessert of your choice
Honestly, it’s a bit of an expensive brunch, but given the quantity and quality, it is perfectly understandable. I advise you not to eat for two days before coming if you want to finish everything (which isn’t strictly necessary, as we were able to take our cakes home in little boxes after giving up on trying to finish them).
As is often the case, I invite you to remember to book before you go, otherwise you risk going home empty-handed, which is always a shame.
