Le Moutarde Street in Saint-Michel (closed)

Moutarde Street is a restaurant brand that you might already know? I had tested one myself near Opéra after a movie last year, without keeping an unforgettable memory of it, one way or the other…

But the Moutarde Street restaurant run by Catherine and David, nestled on the Quai des Grands Augustins near Saint-Michel, facing the Seine and offering a view of Notre Dame Cathedral, is an address much more worth noting in your little black book!

On the agenda for this address: fresh produce, homemade food, quality service, and a warm atmosphere.

La Maison Moutarde specializes in burgers (if you are a fan, go take a look at my little Parisian guide on the subject) and frankly, they are worth the trip: baker’s bread, 150-gram Charolais steak accompanied by homemade fries, and very original combinations of flavors with slightly experimental recipes.

The establishment sets the tone with an open kitchen, a tasty menu, beautiful presentation (the burgers are served open in two parts for the visual effect, but also to separate the hot zone from the cold zone and preserve the different flavors), and a very nice urban and industrial decor.

Designed by architect Stéphane Ducroix, the decor brings a friendly atmosphere, such as with the large communal table for evenings with friends that stands in the middle of the main room, or the small spaces perfect for a romantic dinner, or even the back room that can be reserved for a group, for example. In short, the establishment adapts to all configurations.

To try:

  • The mozzarella di buffala fritters (which are simply among the best I have eaten, and plus the breading for all the fritters is homemade)

An address that I therefore recommend to all burger lovers who want to discover recipes that are a little out of the ordinary and spend a friendly moment in a place with sleek decor.

The little extra: the address has a nice covered terrace for those who prefer it.

The good deal: Happy Hour from 5 PM to 8 PM.

The price: expect to pay between €11 and €13 for a burger; €11 for a bagel
