I’m always on the lookout for new addresses; I have a list as long as my arm of all these places I need to discover so I can tell you about them right here (well, I feel like there are some good resolutions to make for 2014…).
Anyway, Oh Mon Cake is one of those places I’ve been meaning to test for a very long time, and which I had set aside for lack of time and/or opportunities.
In fact, I have been passing by this storefront, located on Rue Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, since it opened around 2010, because I worked in the Louvre neighborhood a few years ago.
Lately, I finally managed to visit this cakerie to enjoy their homemade, fresh, and quality products.
On the menu: savory tarts and cakes, bagels, salads, soups, cheesecakes, cupcakes, cookies, large cakes, muffins, brownies… and atypical organic drinks.
Ultimately, the cuisine at Oh Mon Cake is the result of a meeting between French tradition and Anglo-Saxon culture, and the menu is updated every three months according to the seasons.
Léonora, the creator of the place, is self-taught. She was inspired by her grandmother’s cakes and influenced by her many trips to New York and London.
As for the atmosphere, it’s quite cozy; the walls are covered in brick, there is a small terrace, a ground floor, and an upper floor with a New York loft feel, with about fifty seats where it’s nice to sit down.
For my part, I tested the bagels (between €4.30 and €7), which are prepared to order, as well as the homemade soups (simply delicious!) and the cupcakes (€3.30 each).
To test during my next visit: the carrot cake, the hot chocolate prepared from real chocolate shavings and served with marshmallows, the flavored hot milks, the Chai tea latte, and the Lov Organic tea collection (even though I already have a few at home).
I should also go back to discover the brunch (€19.50) which takes place every Sunday from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
