I share many events on the blog, but if there is one that I am particularly fond of, it is the European Heritage Days, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
This year, these 35th Days will take place next weekend, from Saturday, September 15 to Sunday, September 16, 2018, and their theme will be “the art of sharing“.

A Rosewood Hotel at the Hôtel de Crillon
The famous gallery owner Emmanuel Perrotin is taking over the Hôtel de Crillon to present A Rosewood Hotel. Every month in the lobby, the “Calendar Table” signed by the gallery owner will showcase the best selections of Parisian cultural news.

Historical, architectural, storytelling-based, “unguided”… several original and free tours will be offered by the venue’s mediators.

Visit the Council of State
The 35th edition of the European Heritage Days (JEP) is a unique opportunity to discover the Palais-Royal, where pages of the history of France were written. Transformed into a palace by Cardinal Richelieu in the 17th century, the Palais-Royal hosted the young Louis XIV and his mother Anne of Austria, the Dukes of Orleans, or members of Napoleon’s family… Having become republican, it is now the seat of major public institutions, including the Council of State since 1875.
On September 15 and 16, it will be possible to access the places where the Council carries out its missions on a daily basis: advising public authorities, judging disputes between citizens and the administration, managing the 42 administrative courts, the 8 administrative courts of appeal, and the National Court of Asylum (CNDA).
Guided by members and agents of the Council of State, we will discover:
- the grand staircase of honor, a monumental structure dominated by a 26-meter dome,
- the litigation tribunal room, where the Duchess of Orleans used to have lunch,
- the litigation room, on the site of a theater where Molière performed, and where the Council of State’s public judgment sessions are now held,
- or the Napoleon room, which was a ballroom and a theater, and is today a workspace for members of the Council of State.
