I had already mentioned this spot on the blog, back when it was still called La Grille. I really like it because it’s a place steeped in history, and the establishment still retains some traces of its scandalous past, such as the risqué stained glass windows that remind us it was a place of drinking and debauchery for the French Guards stationed in the neighboring building back in the 18th century. At the time, the iron gate, adorned with vines and faces of Bacchus that encircles the pub, signaled to passersby that a place of pleasure had been set up there…
The building has actually been listed as a Historic Monument of the city of Paris since 1984.

Recently, the space has become a charming pub with a very Anglo-Saxon decor, offering cocktails and beers in the evening with a finger food menu for sharing, burgers, and pub-style cuisine for lunch. And it was precisely during lunch that we were invited to test the place.
The burgers are made with buns from Rachel’s Cakes, and the Blend recipe (a mixture of different cuts of beef, with varying fat content, which, when ground together, form the burger patty) is house-made and, of course, secret…

To try:
- As a starter, we shared the potato and chorizo croquettes (€7).

- The Frenchy Burger, with French ground beef, Brie de Meaux, and pickles (€15), a very successful flavor combination and my favorite of the two we tasted.

- The The Blind Pig burger, the house creation with 200g of French ground beef, double cheddar, pickles, bacon, and whiskey mayonnaise (€18), ideal for big appetites.

Unfortunately, the burgers were so hearty that we didn’t have the courage to try a dessert… Our stomachs surrendered at that point…
- I highly recommend you take a close look at the beer menu, which is very well stocked with a wide, high-quality selection of both draft and bottled beers. The establishment also offers some very nice craft beers to discover.

The tip: happy hours from 5 PM to 8 PM
