Chinese New Year in Paris, the Year of the Monkey

According to the Chinese calendar, it’s next week, Monday, February 8, that the Goat gives way to the Red Fire Monkey.

This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the many free events, Chinese gastronomy, and parades organized by the different districts of Paris, as well as in the Ile-de-France region. For the record, in China, the New Year is celebrated over a period that can last up to a month!

This event is the result of a collaboration between the town halls of the 10th, 11th, 19th, and 20th arrondissements and the Belleville merchants’ association. Consequently, the party and the parade will take place in the neighborhoods of these 4 districts.

This 8th edition of the Chinese New Year parade in Belleville will therefore be held this year on Monday, February 8 starting at 10:30 AM.

Celebrate Chinese New Year at the Shangri-La Hotel

It is on Monday, February 8, a unique and festive day, that you can attend the traditional Lion dance from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM performed by the prestigious “Pak Mei Lao Wei San” Kung Fu School at the Shangri-La Hotel (which I have already told you about on the blog).

According to legend, watching this magnificent spectacle wards off evil spirits and is a symbol of luck, happiness, and audacity for the year to come.
