According to the Chinese calendar, this week, on Saturday, January 28, the Monkey hands over to the Fire Rooster.
It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy numerous free events, Chinese gastronomy, and parades organized by various Paris arrondissements, as well as in the Ile-de-France region. For the record, in China, the New Year is celebrated over a period that can last up to a month!

The 13th Arrondissement City Hall

Like every year, the 13th arrondissement city hall in Paris is organizing numerous events from January 25 to February 11, 2017: concerts, exhibitions, traditional performances, workshops, and of course, the traditional parade.
The latter will take place on Sunday, February 5 starting at 1 PM. It will begin on Avenue d’Ivry, pass through Avenue de Choisy, and finally Boulevard Masséna (for security reasons, the route will not go through Place d’Italie).
The inauguration of the festivities will take place tomorrow, January 25, at 6:30 PM with a traditional Chinese opera from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, held in the city hall’s main hall.

All information and the program are available on the 13th arrondissement city hall website

Belleville Chinese New Year
This event is the result of a collaboration between the city halls of the 10th, 11th, 19th, and 20th arrondissements and the local Belleville merchants’ association. Consequently, the party and parade will take place in the neighborhoods of these 4 districts.
This 9th edition of the Chinese New Year parade in Belleville will therefore take place this year starting at 10:30 AM, but the date still seems uncertain as it is not announced anywhere (at least to my knowledge…).

Celebrate Chinese New Year at the Shangri-La Hotel
It is on Saturday, January 28, a unique and festive day, that you can watch the traditional Lion Dance performed by the prestigious “Pak Mei Lao Wei San” Kung Fu School from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Shangri-La hotel (which I have already mentioned on the blog).
According to legend, admiring this magnificent show is said to chase away evil spirits and is a symbol of luck, happiness, and boldness for the year to come.
