As you know, I have a real soft spot for Chantilly! I actually wrote about it at length in my article A weekend getaway in Chantilly, which is packed with ideas for visits and activities. But because the princely city is constantly changing and its dining scene is evolving, I regularly update this article (as is my habit). Whether you are looking for a luxury hotel or the best places to eat in Chantilly, here is my selection of accommodations and restaurants that I’ve discovered during my trips. From tasting real whipped cream to gourmet dinners, follow the guide to plan your next gourmet stay!

Our video about our weekend in Chantilly
To start, here is our video (by Nicolas Diolez, my favorite photographer) from our 2019 trip, which takes you along with us during this 2-day getaway to Chantilly.
My favorite gourmet addresses in and around Chantilly
Taste the Chantilly from Chantilly!
Make sure you don’t leave without tasting the famous whipped cream, known as… Chantilly. Surely no coincidence, as you will eat the tastiest Chantilly there is. An inimitable flavor to be enjoyed on a bed of strawberries.
And because Mademoiselle Bon Plan loves to spoil her readers, we are generously giving you the recipe for this royal dessert:
- 50 cl of raw cream
- 20 g of powdered sugar
- 20 g of natural vanilla-flavored sugar
Mix everything in a large bowl and whip until the cream becomes thick, creamy, and smooth enough. And until your arm has no strength left! But it will be worth it, believe me! You will certainly be able to taste Chantilly during the Journées des Plantes! Stalls will offer you the chance to savor the local specialty!

Lunch at the restaurant Le Vertugadin
This great address in Chantilly is worth the detour as much for the quality of its cuisine as for the temperament of its owner, Michaël Ejzenbaum, who you could listen to for hours talking about Chantilly cream, of which he is a Knight of the Brotherhood! After our meal, we even got a mini class and a demonstration on Chantilly cream. Indeed, this delicious preparation is famous the world over and its history is linked to Chantilly because it is said that its birthplace was the Hameau and the Dairy of the Prince of Condé (who resided at the Château de Chantilly). The creation of the latter dates back to the 18th century. And since October 6, 2019, the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Whipped Cream (Confrérie des Chevaliers fouetteurs de crème Chantilly) also organizes Chantilly cream classes at the Domaine de Chantilly.
Must-try: the poultry liver terrine from Picardy; the black pudding with two apples; the tagliatelle with parmesan cream; the strawberry puff pastry with the famous Chantilly cream…

My advice: In terms of drinks, I highly recommend trying the local Gustave beer, which is very good!

Brunch at the InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal
This magnificent 5-star hotel, hidden in the Chantilly forest, belongs to the IHG group in 2026 (Tiara Hôtels when I visited). Every Sunday starting at 12:30 PM, the establishment’s gourmet restaurant, L’Opéra, offers its very famous brunch, renowned throughout the region and therefore eagerly attended, especially by families of all generations. My favorite photographer had a blast with it, as you can see, before we gobbled down a few plates of these delicacies. The hardest thing is to admit from the start that even if you haven’t eaten since the day before, you won’t be able to taste everything, it’s impossible—only perhaps that good old Karadoc (a little reference to Kaamelott) could manage it… and even then…
On the menu: a gargantuan buffet (I’m not sure I’ve seen one more abundant, varied, and tasty) created by the restaurant’s chef, Benoist Rambaud, with starters, verrines, hot dishes, local platters, a seafood selection, a beautiful cheese board, and a sublime dessert buffet, each one just more delicious than the next…
The little extra: on sunny days, it is very pleasant to enjoy your brunch on the magnificent terrace located at the back of the château, perfectly quiet, to calmly appreciate this convivial and gourmet moment.

Where to stay in Chantilly and the surrounding area?
L’Auberge du Jeu de Paume
This beautiful 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel, located in the heart of the Chantilly estate, opened its doors in 2012 and I was lucky enough to spend an enchanting night there. This invitation was actually the starting point for this little city guide on Chantilly.
The pro tip: upon arrival at the hotel, the concierge will give you a map of the city and the Estate, as well as vouchers valid for one day to discover the Domaine de Chantilly in its entirety (grounds, Condé Museum, château, and Horse Museum). It’s quite a nice perk!

Our Deluxe room with a view of the Domaine de Chantilly gardens
You feel like you’re in an 18th-century French manor, with its rustic toile de Jouy patterns and Louis XV style armchairs. What a pleasure, especially, to have breakfast brought to our room and enjoy it on our private balcony overlooking the park. An unforgettable memory.

Price for the Deluxe room with a park view: from 337.50 € per night

Our dinner at the Bistrot Chic Le Jardin d’Hiver
The hotel’s bistro offers fresh cuisine that showcases local, seasonal, and farm-to-table products, as the chef places particular importance on the provenance of these raw ingredients. During warm weather, the restaurant has a charming little indoor terrace that is very pleasant for dinner or lunch. The establishment also has another very beautiful dining room, La Table du Connétable, a gourmet restaurant now under the leadership of chef Clément Le Norcy, which offers superb creative cuisine focused on products from the region.
To taste:
- A little amuse-bouche to whet the appetite (I love this tradition in higher-end restaurants). Well, although I’m sorry, I don’t remember at all what it was…
- The zucchini cream with nutmeg and ricotta ravioli (12 €), for a fresh and light starter.
- The slices of house-smoked salmon with mustard potatoes (15 €), perfectly prepared for enthusiasts.
- For the main course, for fish lovers, I tested the sea bream in a bread crust with tetragonia and piquillos (32 €), with a special mention for the cooking, which was very well done.
- Another main dish was the roasted chicken supreme with vegetable blanquette and tarragon (31 €), the photographer’s choice, obviously.
- For dessert, we tried the traditional Saint-Honoré (10 €), classic but effective.
- And finally, the must-try dessert, the homemade strawberries on a delicate jelly with whipped cream and vanilla (10 €). Fresh and light, perfect to end this nice meal.

Restaurant open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner
The little extra: a beautiful selection of wines and a very competent staff to help you discover little gems.
The pro tip: the Le Jardin d’Hiver menu from Monday to Friday at 35 € with starter + main + dessert / 31 € with starter + main / 29 € with main + dessert

The Valmont Spa
The spa of the famous Swiss brand has been in the hotel since its opening and offers an exclusive signature treatment on-site: the Mille & Une Chantilly treatment. On the agenda for this unique experience is exfoliation followed by a relaxing massage, ending with a decadent, creamy whipped cream wrap. Yes, that’s right, you heard me correctly; they covered me in whipped cream and I tasted it right before being slathered in it—it was delicious! What’s great is that after the treatment, my skin smelled like vanilla… My favorite photographer didn’t seem to complain about it…
To ensure this sensory treatment doesn’t end on a note of frustration, a little sweet surprise prepared by the establishment’s pastry chef completes the ritual. The good news is that there is, of course, a little bowl of whipped cream to enjoy…

Price: 205 € for 90 min / 355 € for two
The pro tip: hotel guests obviously have free access (7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.) to the indoor pool, hot tub, fitness room, hammam and sauna areas of the spa, as well as the juice and herbal tea bar for a refreshing break.

L’hôtel Mercure Chantilly
This hotel, located in the heart of the Chantilly forest, is easily accessible from Paris by car (expect a good hour’s drive), but you can also get there by train, arriving at the Chantilly train station. The establishment, built in 1991, offers contemporary architecture that reminded me a bit of large American resorts and is set in the middle of an 80-hectare park that gives pride of place to nature with a very beautiful 18-hole golf course. It is a large establishment, as the hotel has 200 rooms and suites.
In 2019, my favorite photographer and I discovered this 4-star Mercure Chantilly Resort & Conventions hotel (formerly Dolce Chantilly, which has changed its name since March 1st, 2019). We actually visited around that time, towards the end of February. Because the hotel has changed its name since then, I admit that some things may have evolved—I know, for example, that the organization of the establishment’s restaurants seems a bit different—but hey, I’m going to share this experience with you anyway; just keep that in mind.

Our Room No. 396
Our room overlooked the golf course, which I found extremely nice and relaxing. We obviously took the opportunity to have some bed-jumping sessions, and the favorite photographer even joined in for the occasion…
What I appreciated in this room:
- The very good bedding and the very comfortable King Size bed
- The hot beverage corner in the room with a kettle and a selection of teas and herbal teas (essential for my little evening herbal tea; I am always extremely disappointed when I don’t find this in a hotel room)
- The bathtub, always nice to relax in a little bath
- The quietness of this room overlooking the park

Breakfast
I advise you not to arrive too late for breakfast (which is served as a buffet) if you want to be able to sit in the glass-roofed room and enjoy the beautiful morning light. On sunny days, you can also enjoy the new terrace with a view of the golf course, the swimming pool, and the leisure areas.

The Hotel Bar
This very cozy bar is a great opportunity to have a cocktail or a glass of Champagne before testing the establishment’s restaurant, for example. For your information, I recommend you discover the bar’s beautiful selection of Champagnes, as it is one of their specialties (at least at the time we went). In particular, we made a very nice discovery with the Champagne Mailly.

The Restaurants
The hotel’s chic bistro is run by chef Jimmy Elisabeth. When we tested it, the restaurant was still called the Donatello, but since the chef hasn’t changed, I assume the cuisine is quite similar to the establishment’s new La Véranda restaurant.
2026 Update: The hotel restaurant has had a makeover! Forget the Donatello or La Véranda in their classic form: make way now for “A l’Épicerie” Chantilly. This very friendly bistronomic concept offers sharing cuisine focused on local produce. At lunch, you will find a gourmet buffet of starters and desserts (set menu around 39 €). In the evening, the atmosphere becomes ultra-gourmet with cheese specialties to share (raclettes, fondues) sourced from their famous cheese bell.

In addition, at sunset time, in the indoor bar or at the pool bar of the establishment, you can find snacks to enjoy with a drink from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. And finally, on weekends, the chef offers barbecue or rotisserie menus prepared live, as well as seasonal starter buffets and gourmet desserts.

Little Gourmet Workshop
The Chef sometimes offers workshops for adults and children throughout the year. During our stay, we participated in a workshop to learn how to make Chantilly cream the proper way. It was also an opportunity for me to test my lack of arm muscles… But I was still very proud to have managed to whip my chantilly cream by hand (with a little help from the favorite photographer, I must admit…). Workshop schedules are announced in the hotel via posters or on the establishment’s Facebook page.

The Golf Course
This 18-hole golf course is clearly one of the establishment’s major assets, and I really regret that we didn’t have time to take advantage of it for a golf initiation (because we clearly didn’t have the level to do the course). That will be for next time!

_
Relaxation Area
The hotel has a fitness room, a steam room, a sauna, and two swimming pools (one indoor and one outdoor for sunny days). Everything is freely accessible to hotel guests.

_
Idea for a walk around the hotel
You can easily go for a walk in the surroundings of the hotel on foot or by bike (bike rental possible at the hotel; ask at the reception). It is an easily accessible, inexpensive activity idea, and it allows you to enjoy the bucolic setting of the establishment.

Thanks to the Mercure Chantilly and Tout Un Monde for this invitation, as well as the Domaine de Chantilly for the tour of the private apartments of the Duc d’Aumale.

I hope that all this has made you want to discover or rediscover Chantilly, and if you also have your own favorite addresses for staying in and visiting this town, don’t hesitate to share them in the comments!
