I already mentioned it last year, but the Fête de la Gastronomie is the major annual event for lovers of good food. This year, we will celebrate our love for great cuisine from September 20th to 22nd, 2013.
This great popular festival offers many interesting free activities, discoveries, and encounters centered around culinary heritage (banquets, meals, tastings, product discovery, career presentations, tours, etc.), all over France, focusing on the values of sharing and living together.
I strongly encourage you to try to participate this year.
I also advise you to take a close look at the event’s schedule to make the most of these days.
Melle Bon Plan’s little selection in Paris (but not only there):
- From Friday, September 6th to Sunday, September 22nd, 2013, gourmets have an appointment at 12 Il Ristorante restaurants in France to celebrate the 16th Parma Ham Festival through a special menu highlighting this product.
- WineSitting and Victoire Finaz, a chocolate creator I already told you about here, join their talents to offer a 100% gourmet tasting through a unique sensory experience to discover the perfect choco-oenological combination.
See you on September 20th and 21st at the WineSitting wine cellars (depending on their opening hours) to discover 3 original pairings between wines and chocolates accompanied by their advice and explanations.
Participation fee: 5€
- Like every year, the Tous au Restaurant event joins the Fête de la Gastronomie from September 16th to 22nd to offer all gastronomy lovers a meal centered around the theme “Your guest is our guest”.
Thus, in nearly 1,000 participating establishments across France, the restaurateur will offer the second guest the Tous au Restaurant menu, consisting of a starter, a main course, and a dessert.
With an ever-increasing desire to please and help as many people as possible discover a cuisine, a region, or a tradition, this event reflects the magnificent diversity of French cuisine and the defended values: passion, sharing, and curiosity.
Attention, reservations open on Monday, September 9th, and for some tables, places can go very quickly!
- A craft caterer opens their lab to allow us to delve into the privacy of the caterer profession.
The public will be able to discover the behind-the-scenes of the business, which they never see: trained and competent laboratory staff, specific equipment, “homemade” products, the selection of raw materials, manufacturing secrets, and some well-kept recipes!
15 rue Jacques Bingen 75017 Paris 17 from 9am-5pm
Free tasting of fine wines on Friday, September 20th or foie gras tasting on Sunday, September 22nd, several activities are offered at restaurant Le Mesturet for the gastronomy festival.
The details of the events can be consulted on the restaurant’s blog.
- Free demonstrations and tastings on the terrace of Flora Danica on Saturday, September 21st from 3pm to 6:30pm.
The Relais & Châteaux Hôtel Daniel (which I discovered during the Priceless Paris event) offers a menu at a soft price with starter, main course, cheese & dessert (drinks not included) for 65 € per person.
This menu will be served for lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Please note, the number of places is limited (booking at 01 42 56 17 00 or by email danielparis@relaischateaux.com).
- Voulez Vous Dîner, an online organization and booking platform for meals between private individuals that I already mentioned here, celebrates French gastronomy on Friday, September 20th by offering a 50% discount on the price of the cooking class organized in partnership with Le Chef est Une Femme by using the following promotional code: GASTRONOMIE.
It only remains for me to wish you a happy Fête de la Gastronomie, my fellow good food lovers!
