My favorite ice cream shops in Paris

by Melle Bon Plan
Published: Updated:

To make the most of the summer season and sunny days (yes, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the summer lasts as long as possible, it’s always more pleasant), I’m offering to reveal my selection of great Parisian addresses for ice cream parlors where you can enjoy tasty artisanal ice creams during the summer season, as well as the rest of the year! No discrimination here, I’ve tested ice creams, sorbets, sundaes, popsicles, and other frozen desserts for you (yes, yes, it was hard work, I admit!). I also update this article regularly to offer you an ever-growing selection of addresses that are, above all, always up to date!

Une Glace à Paris

To be honest, I’m not going to beat around the bush: I think the best ice creams I’ve ever eaten in my whole life are those from Une Glace à Paris! For the backstory, this ice cream paradise was founded by Emmanuel Ryon (Meilleur Ouvrier de France Glacier 2000 and World Pastry Champion) and Olivier Ménard (an accomplished pastry chef who worked at Pierre Hermé, Harrods in London, and the Holder group), two enthusiasts aiming to create extremely high-quality ice cream. A challenge completely met in my opinion!

Here you will find both classic flavors made with exceptional products, as well as original and very successful combinations. In addition to the incredible, almost “rediscovered” taste of the ice cream, it is perhaps the texture of the products that won over my favorite photographer and me the most. For the super-foodies, the shop also offers frozen pastries which are also very good.

New since 2018: the big novelty of summer 2018 lies in the creation of frozen cocktails (normally presented in a glass) and ice cream popsicles (each one more famous than the last). In short, as usual, Une Glace à Paris treats us with its good products. A must-visit place for quality ice cream!

Flavors to try: Rum baba (you’d think you were eating the real dessert, it’s crazy!), pistachio (once again, nothing to do with what we usually eat), vanilla (the best vanilla ice cream I’ve ever tasted, for sure), smoked wood chocolate, morello cherry, fig, carrot orange and ginger, blackberry and jasmine tea, red bell pepper,… well actually everything is good, you would have to be able to taste everything, as you’ve understood!

The little extra: a small tea room is set up at the back of the shop with a few tables to quietly enjoy the house’s delights.

Tea room prices: individual pastry from €12.20 / one scoop of ice cream €4.20 / discovery crown of 6 flavors €16.80

Takeaway prices: 1 flavor €3.90 / 2 flavors €5.50 / 3 flavors €6.80 / 4 flavors €9

Glacier 1891

Certainly one of the most beautiful discoveries in terms of ice cream during my Parisian summer of 2019! This beautiful address, imagined and created by a fine gourmet and foodie, Stéphane Raymond-Bernardé, has been open since April 2019. The place is multifaceted; you can find delicious ice creams there, but also cakes, juices, salads… And it’s an address that is lively all day and in the evening as well! Plus, the establishment has a very pretty room upstairs where it’s truly nice to sit down with decor (I found) that makes you feel “at home”.

As for products, everything is made on-site and great attention is paid to the selection of ingredients. I must say that both my favorite photographer and I were blown away by the quality of the ice creams and by the subtle and perfect balance of flavors. On the cake side, it’s also a real success, and I recommend you taste the red fruit Pavlova (super light!), the ginger mango meringue flower, the caramel meringue (super indulgent), and finally the Cyriaque chocolate (named after the owner’s grandfather).

My favorite flavors: grapefruit fresh mint sorbet; lemon and Sancho berry sorbet; peach and hibiscus sorbet; dates and orange blossom ice cream; Iranian pistachio ice cream; praline hazelnut ice cream

The Italian ice creams of Il Gelato Del Marchese

I discovered this address during the winter of 2018 (yes, you can also eat ice cream in the winter!), but unfortunately, I hadn’t had the opportunity to talk about it on the blog before… This gelateria with a Venetian palace feel offers no less than 18 flavors that change with the seasons.

At Il Gelato Del Marchese all ice creams are natural, without dyes/additives/preservatives, low in calories (because there is very little sugar), seasonal, artisanal, made in Paris every day with fresh products, whole fruits, and whole milk from French organic farms for the ice creams and mineral water for the sorbets. In short, only good things! The shop near Odéon also has a charming little tea room with a baroque ambiance where it’s nice to sit down to eat an ice cream, enjoy a good tea or a real hot chocolate when you want to warm up a little.

The little extra: special mention for the ice cream sundaes (between €14 and €15) which are really very indulgent!

Grom, la Gelato come una volta

This brand from Italy, and more particularly from Turin, offers 100% natural ice creams prepared with organic seasonal fruits and high-quality ingredients. The brand even owns its own organic farm in Italy. The result is tasty and these Italian-style ice creams are excellent! There are several addresses in Paris, but I have indicated the one I went to, near the Pantheon, to discover these ice creams.

Flavors to try: Crema di grom (with corn biscuits and chocolate chips), Bacio (hazelnuts and chocolate), Melon and Peach.

Price: €3.70 for a small cup / €4.70 for a medium / €5.70 for a large cup (same price for cones)

Gelati d’Alberto

This artisanal ice cream parlor on rue Mouffetard is located not far from my old job and I know it very well! While passing through the neighborhood recently, I couldn’t resist the urge for a little ice cream… A very wide choice of Italian-style ice cream flavors, everything is homemade, and I highly recommend you try the sorbets which are just delicious!

Glacier La Tropicale

A charming little address, also very close to my work, next to the Place d’Italie, which rotates its thirty or so flavors every day, so it’s impossible to know what you’re going to taste when you go there. Here, Thai-Thanh Dang draws from herbs, peppers, spices, or teas to highlight the flavors of seasonal fruits. Their selection of sorbets and creams is a journey all over the world!

Open Monday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM + Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Glacier Amorino

Amorino is also a brand well known to Parisian ice cream lovers. The brand has numerous shops in Paris and around the world and is famous for its artisanal Gelati presented in the shape of a flower on its cones. I also took advantage of this tasting in the shop located on rue Mouffetard to test its frappés with whole milk (with a choice of ice cream or sorbet, mixing 2 flavors is even possible), the milkshake version by Amorino which proved to be a great discovery.

Price: €5.50 for a 300 ml frappé / cone from €3.60 to €5.70 depending on the size
