If you have been following my blog for a while, you must have noticed that I enjoy street food and have a particular love for burgers, a dish to which I have already dedicated several articles on the blog. Today, I’m introducing you to a brand I have tested several times on this theme: King Marcel.
King Marcel is a burger chain that was born in Lyon in 2013 and inaugurated its first Parisian address in May 2015. Today, the brand has restaurants in 12 cities in France, including 2 restaurants in Paris. King Marcel is a 100% French fast-food restaurant offering homemade burgers with Label Rouge Limousin beef, where you can eat in under 30 minutes. You order at the counter upon entering, then head to your table in the dining room, and your order is brought to you on a tray.
Regarding the burgers, I really like the wrapped presentation of the product, which keeps the burger warm. This is highly appreciated because I find there are too many places where you eat your burger lukewarm, and personally, it ruins the experience a bit for me… Another positive point: the fries are homemade and super good (though not very light, that’s for sure, but hey, they’re fries!). If you are in “watching my figure” mode, you can also accompany your burger with a salad.
Good to know: in all standard-sized burgers, the patty can be replaced by a homemade vegetable patty for vegetarians!

Thanks to King Marcel for these invitations.

King Marcel Gare de Lyon
This Parisian location, situated in the heart of the 12th arrondissement, is set up not far from Gare de Lyon. I discovered it quite late, in 2022. It is also the smallest of the brand’s Parisian addresses, with about thirty seats. However, it does have a terrace for sunny days.

King Marcel Montmartre
This address is the first one I tested in Paris in 2015, and it was on that occasion that I discovered the King Marcel brand. It is located right next to the Grands Boulevards. It is also the very first Parisian location opened by the brand in the capital, also in 2015. The place is quite large with about 70 seats.

King Marcel Lafayette (closed)
In 2019, I discovered this King Marcel location, which is on rue de Lafayette in Paris. The place is very nice and I really liked the decor. Only small downside: if you want a quiet place for lunch, it’s more of a fast-food atmosphere that prevails here and the background music is quite present. So, for a romantic date, forget it!
We tasted:
- The Marcel Michelin Burger with Limousin breed beef (as for all burgers), Saint-Nectaire AOP, country bacon, homemade mustard cream, and chives, and the Marcel Market Burger with seasonal products and according to the chef’s mood.
- For drinks, we tested the homemade lemonade because it was a bit lacking in good craft beers, I must admit…
- Obviously, you also have to try the delicious homemade fries (and the sauces are also super good!) €2.50 or €3 depending on the size.

The tip: Le Petit Marcel set menus with burger + fries + drink (soft or water) €9.90 / Classic €12.90 / King €15.90 (it’s actually mostly the quantities that change between the set menus)
Prices: €8.50 for the classic burger / €11.50 for the King

2022 edit: this Parisian location is unfortunately now closed
