Today on the blog, to continue with my Christmas theme, I’m presenting some festive and/or winter menus and dishes offered by several venues and restaurants in Paris that I’ve had the opportunity to discover and test for you. On the agenda are several places I already know well and mention regularly on the blog (FrogPubs and Le Roch Hôtel), as well as some new discoveries. I hope this gets your mouth watering for the upcoming festive days!

The “Chalet 1200” menu at Quai Ouest
This brasserie located in Saint-Cloud on the banks of the Seine offers a lovely, comforting menu for the winter season. This restaurant in the western part of Paris reopened in 2022 with a “refreshed” decor and boasts an incredible view of the Seine. On the menu of this “Chalet 1200” selection: macaroni gratin with mushroom cream and summer truffle (€18.50); roasted sweet potato topped with smoked raclette and a mushroom fricassee (€18.50); and several winter cocktails like the Génépi Mule or the Pinata with mandarin liqueur and homemade pine bud syrup (€12.50).

The chalet at Le Roch Hôtel & Spa
I am a total fan of this hotel, which I have already mentioned several times on the blog. Last year, for the winter season, Le Roch Hôtel & Spa featured a Slavic hut on its beautiful inner terrace. This year, there is a change of scenery, and the establishment transports us to the warmth of Morocco with an invitation to travel to the Khaïma oasis. This little haven of peace, in the heart of our bustling capital’s urban desert, is available only for private hire and has been decorated with great taste by Sarah Poniatowski-Lavoine, like the rest of the hotel. You can book this space for an aperitif, lunch, or dinner (or all three!!!!). It is a cozy little nest where you feel right at home (you can even bring your own music).

And to enhance these exceptional moments, the dishes offered in this caravan of the thousand and one nights for this festive menu are obviously of oriental inspiration. The Khaïma menu is also a beautiful story, as it is the result of an encounter and a culinary crush. Specifically, between the hotel’s Lyonnais chef Rémy Bérerd (whose cooking we have adored for years, along with my favorite photographer) and Fatéma Hal, historian and specialist in Moroccan cuisine (whom I had already mentioned in my article about the Es Saadi Marrakech Resort). Fatéma is also at the helm of a gourmet Moroccan restaurant in Paris, Mansouria.
Must-try items on the tasting menu: bride’s fingers with crab meat and briwat, Moroccan salads; langoustine tagine with purslane; pigeon spiced with Ras el Hanout; sand-crusted lamb shoulder, stuffed with squash jam and honey; Moroccan pastries; orange salad…

In these times, and given the stressful atmosphere that has invaded Paris since the beginning of this December, I think a comforting break in this little bubble that is Khaïma is an affordable pleasure that I would like to treat myself to more often… Just for the joy of sharing exceptional moments with the people I love…

The Odette Festive Menu
Chez Odette, the Urban Inn by Maison Rostang, celebrates Christmas with a special festive menu that we were able to preview with my favorite photographer during a lunch shared with some of our blogger friends.
On the agenda for this festive menu: Amuse-bouche; Scallop carpaccio with citrus vinaigrette & Finger Lime; Pan-seared foie gras, speculoos shortbread tart, mango & passion fruit compote; Venison leg, pistachio sprinkles, celery & pointed cabbage; Saint Nectaire, peppered salad with Melanosporum truffle; Soufflé dome with Jivara chocolate

Pro tip: the restaurant Chez Odette remains open on Christmas Eve, which is not the case for all establishments, so it is worth noting!

The Oyster Shack
The concept of this pop-up bar involves tasting high-quality raw oysters from Maison Mer. You can also try them poached (it was my first time tasting them prepared this way, and I found it very pleasant). To accompany the oysters, there is a selection of natural wines including a Muscadet, a Melon de Bourgogne, a Chenin, or a Chardonnay. There is also a beer offered for enthusiasts, the Brooklyn Beer Sorashi Ace.
