If you have been following my blog for a while, you must know how deeply I was moved by my trip to Mexico in 2016. I loved everything about that country, and my only wish is to go back and discover more! While waiting to fulfill that dream (which is a bit pricey, after all), I’ve made it a mission to find spots in Paris to relive the country’s atmosphere and the flavors of Mexican gastronomy. I actually already wrote an article with a selection of typically Mexican restaurants, and this time, I’m offering you places with Mexican or Tex-Mex influences: Tex-Mex cuisine is an expression used to describe a style of cooking from Texas and the Southwestern United States, influenced by Mexican gastronomy.
As usual with this type of article, I will update it regularly with my new discoveries to keep sharing my best Mexican and Tex-Mex addresses in Paris with you!

Take Otac
This little Tex-Mex chain has 3 locations in Paris (Avron, Pasteur, and Panthéon Sorbonne). For my part, I tested their location near the Panthéon during the summer of 2022. The place is small, but there is a terrace set up out front for sunny days. The products are fresh, and everything is made on-site by chefs from Latin America. I really enjoyed it; it’s simple but well-made, and the prices are very attractive. I particularly recommend the tacos, which are completely decent.
Price: Menu 2 tacos + side (choice of cheddar nachos, rice, or salad) for €9.50 / menu 1 burrito + side for €11.90 / menu quesadilla + side €10.50 / guacamole nachos for €6.90.

La Mezcaleria, the 1K’s speakeasy
La Mezcaleria is a Parisian speakeasy cocktail bar, hidden on Boulevard du Temple. It is at number 13 that the 1K Hotel Restaurant Bar offers revisited Peruvian gastronomy. And it is also at the back of this Peruvian-themed establishment that one discovers the venue’s confidential address: a clandestine bar with Mexican flavors. You enter this Mexican enclave through an original, forbidden, and quite confusing passage, by going through the restaurant’s kitchens… A rather funny experience…
It is, in any case, the perfect place to discover Mezcal, “The Drink of the Gods,” in a mysterious setting. This Mexican spirit, a relative of tequila, is an alcohol ranging from 38% to 48% ABV, and it was the traditional drink of the farmers in Oaxaca who consumed it to forget the long days of toil in the agave fields.

Tacos from Cantine California
This restaurant is originally a food truck that offers Californian classics (burgers, tacos, cupcakes, cookies) prepared with organic French meat and produce. Of course, I wanted to tell you about the tacos at this spot, since that’s kind of the theme of this article and, to be honest, I haven’t tested their burgers yet. Verdict: the tacos are excellent, as is their guacamole, which comes with black nachos for an appetizer. A big thank you to my friend Marie from Culture Foood who helped me discover this cool spot.

La Casa Corona
Between a lush hacienda and an artist’s studio, the Mexican beer brand brought us to Mexico time during the summer of 2017 in a pop-up location, and with my favorite photographer, it obviously reminded us of some evenings from our trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. This Casa offers a large terrace with a few swings in a lovely inner courtyard nestled in the heart of the Marais in Paris. On the menu: Corona, of course, but also a few bites with Mexican flavors.
On the program: live concerts, DIY workshops, yoga classes, pop-up market, French-Mexican fusion food, Corona beer of course, and many surprises!
The tip: workshops and activities are free with registration (facebook.com/casacoronaparis)
