This former bistro near the Carreau du Temple now features a modern and colorful decor, designed by Christophe Bro, which turns the place into a trendy and laid-back address where it’s lovely to sit down and take your time. I really liked the mix of old brick with geometric wallpaper, which gives a certain dynamism to the whole place.

Social Square is a multi-purpose venue, a restaurant by day and a cocktail bar by night, open continuously from 8 am to 2 am (which makes it a rare spot to keep in mind). Basically, I headed there on a Sunday lunchtime to test the brunch—a sport I practice regularly (well, I try…)—to discover the establishment.

Ultimately, I would say that this local brunch is quite simple and lacks originality, and it is truly for the venue’s atmosphere that I would recommend you come—perhaps in the evening instead, for an aperitif to discover the house cocktails that clearly have a very good reputation.
The brunch:
- 1 hot drink of your choice (for tea lovers, they have Mariage Frères tea)
- freshly squeezed orange juice (a very good point)
- 1 croissant
- smoked salmon or bacon
- scrambled eggs
- Greek yogurt with muesli
- 1 fresh fruit minestrone

A great address in the Temple neighborhood, therefore, to note in your little book for grabbing a drink, having a bite to eat, or just enjoying watching the hustle and bustle of Parisian life pass by before your eyes, while you sit in peace.
To try: the cocktail creations by Charles, the house mixologist.
The little extra: the very nice terrace with a view over the charming Square du Temple, which makes it the ideal spot as soon as the warm weather arrives.

Social Square 165, rue du Temple 75003 Paris The insider tip: live soul and jazzy concerts on Thursdays (9 pm - midnight) and eclectic DJ sets on Saturdays (10 pm - 1 am). Price: breakfast menu at €9 / Sunday brunch at €23 from 11 am to 4 pm / happy hours & boards to share for appetizers
