I love gastronomy, as you know if you visit here regularly in search of great addresses, but what you might not know yet is that I also really love world cuisine. I have rarely had the chance to talk to you about these types of places on the blog, but here is a first example with Indian House, an Indian restaurant located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, within the Village Daguerre, near the Denfert-Rochereau square, which I was recently invited to discover.
For 14 years, Christine and Kulan, the owners, have been welcoming their customers into a cozy setting with extremely kind service. The chef, who has been in the kitchen since the restaurant opened, serves refined and very generous traditional Indian and Pakistani dishes (honestly, we really struggled to finish our plates…).
Regarding the overall ambiance of the restaurant, I really appreciated the brightness of the place (which is rarely the case for Indian restaurants, which are often dark, for a reason that remains very mysterious by the way). The decor is neat and refined, with warm colors, a trendy but welcoming atmosphere.

As for the service, it is extremely neat and attentive. You really feel pampered by the restaurant staff, who take great care of their customers. Regarding the food, as someone who loves Indian cuisine, I was delighted by the quality at Indian House. The products are fresh and you can tell. The dishes are fine and the flavors are colorful.
For a starter, I recommend the tapas assortment, which will allow you to taste a bit of everything (it’s planned for 2 people, but well, for 3 or 4 it also works depending on your appetite). For an aperitif, you can try the house’s signature cocktail, the Maharadja (rum, amaretto, grenadine, Pulco lemon, orange juice, passion fruit juice), which is very nice and a bit different from the more classic cocktails you usually have.
Regarding the main courses, there are a few chef’s specialties on the menu that are really worth discovering, such as the assortment of grilled Tandoori skewers, for example. And then, to finish the meal properly, have a small cardamom chai tea; it is so good and will help you start your digestion because you will definitely need it…
