What could be more pleasant than a small terrace for the sunny days? Obviously, when alternating between heatwaves and premature autumn, you have to choose your date carefully, but that’s another story…
Well, I have once again set out on a quest to find the best Parisian spots of the summer in terms of terraces for you. It wasn’t really easy given the challenging weather of the last few weeks (I was afraid of getting heatstroke), but I sincerely hope that this quest will still be useful for the end of this summer and for the start of the school year (I’m crossing my fingers).
After a great selection in 2015, 2016, and 2017, what does the 2018 vintage have in store for us?…

Summer at Off Paris Seine
The famous hotel on the Seine offers several events for the summer season and even until next October!
Inside the hotel, the bar food offers a breathtaking view of the Seine with signature homemade cocktails, Champagne, a selection of wines, and a choice of tapas on the menu.

Another option on the quay, La Mer à Boire sets up a terrace with iodized flavors including Brittany oysters, crab rolls, salmon rolls, salmon gravlax, seafood rillettes, wines, and champagne—in short, a great program!

The tip: Happy Oysters every Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM with oysters for €1.

The Terr’Ice at the Hôtel Marignan
This beautiful 5-star hotel is located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, at the junction of the prestigious Avenue Montaigne, the Champs-Élysées, and the Grand Palais.

The magnificent Terr’Ice, in partnership with the Champagne brand Moët & Chandon, is located on the top floor of the hotel, on the establishment’s rooftop with an incredible view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower!
It is therefore the ideal spot to come and enjoy an aperitif or just to have a drink at the end of the day and admire the sunset over the City of Light…

Le Papa Cabane at the Hôtel Ibis Styles Paris Bercy
It’s the second year that Le Papa Cabane has set up in the courtyard of the Ibis Styles Paris Bercy for a series of “afterwork” evenings, allowing people to enjoy long summer nights on a magnificent terrace of over 1000 m2 facing the Parc de Bercy.
And this evening (Thursday, August 30th) is actually the closing party of this terrace, so it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy it if you haven’t had a chance to go yet!

A really nice spot with stylish eco-friendly decor just like last year; the furniture is made of pallets, there are cushions, fairy lights… it’s a place where it’s good to relax with friends for an evening in the 12th arrondissement…

On the program: DJ sets, petanque, ping pong, foosball, food trucks, and a bar for happy hour with cocktails.
Le Papa Cabane Until August 30th, 2018, every Thursday from 6 PM to 11 PM Rue Paul Belmondo, 75012 Paris Metro: Bercy, lines 6 and 14

The Terrace of the Jeu de Paume: Hana Bento
Located right on the side of the Jeu de Paume, the Boîte à Images, run this year by Hana Bento (a Japanese food brand whose Christmas bento we tested in 2016 for those who remember), overlooks the octagonal basin of the Jardin des Tuileries.

It’s a fast-food spot, but not without a certain summer charm with its parasols, allowing for a nice gourmet break before or after a visit to the Jeu de Paume Gallery, or even the Orangerie (which houses Monet’s Water Lilies), which is also not far away.
To taste:
- For a main dish, I recommend the gyoza salad with pork (€13) and the Donburi of the month (with crispy chicken when we visited) (€16).

- For drinks, we really liked the homemade iced tea made with Mina organic Japanese teas (€3.60) and the fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juice (€5).

- For dessert, you absolutely must try their new item: soft-serve ice cream with organic matcha and cherry blossom vanilla flavors (€4.50).

The terrace of the Roch Hotel & Spa, Paris
We tested the superb restaurant of this establishment last year in December 2017 (to see the article and video we made at the time, it’s here).
To introduce it, this 5-star boutique hotel with 37 rooms has a homey atmosphere and design by Sarah Lavoine, located not far from the Pyramides metro station (to give you an idea).

As for the cuisine, it is still the chef from Lyon (yes, my chauvinism is coming out here!) Rémy Bérerd who offers beautiful, colorful plates with surprising and always successful flavor combinations.
This time we discovered the hotel’s charming hidden terrace located in the center of the establishment, nestled in a patch of greenery just above the central dining room where we ate last time.

To taste:
- The multicolored tomato gazpacho (in the lunch set menu) with dill oil and crunchy vegetables.

As a main dish, the Piedmont veal hanger steak with candied lemon gnocchi and fried capers (€30).

- Redfish and prawn in a soup with saffron potatoes and rouille emulsion bouillabaisse-style (also in the lunch set menu).

- For dessert, the chocolate and peanut butter with a redcurrant biscuit (€14).

- Another dessert: the salted caramel ice cream sundae with a caramelized apple crumble and palm sugar whipped cream (also in the lunch set menu).

The tip: lunch set menu with appetizer + main or main + dessert at €31 / appetizer + main + dessert set menu at €36.
Thanks to the Roch Hotel & Spa for this invitation.

The small terrace of the Uptown
We had a culinary crush on this restaurant located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris with our favorite photographer! It also happens to have a charming small terrace on which we started the evening (because the big cold-hater that I am couldn’t last the whole evening outside…).

To taste: the restaurant’s concept is to offer gourmet tapas plates to share, but they are served at the table one by one (not all at once) to let you take the time to enjoy each dish…

Careful though, you have to like spices and slightly exotic flavors, because the cuisine is full of originality. For our part, we were totally thrilled!
Small plates to share between €12 and €15

La Paillotte on the Galeries Lafayette rooftop
During the summer, the Galeries Lafayette rooftop on the 7th floor of the main store is a very appreciated spot for its magnificent view over the rooftops of Paris and the Opera.
On this terrace are two spots this summer: the Cube Bar and La Paillotte restaurant. The latter offers a terrace area for a sunny lunch with Mediterranean accents (and a few wasps), in a very nice beach-restaurant atmosphere.

To taste: large salads (€24) with burrata and organic tomatoes or warm Chavignol goat cheese salad; for main dishes you also have the pasta of the moment (€27); for dessert, the fruit pavlova (€12); wines by the glass at €9.

La Paillotte / Rooftop Galeries Lafayette
21 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris
Open Monday to Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM
A la carte pricing: between €14 and €27_
