Last year, we happily discovered the Blueberry Maki Bar with our favorite photographer, and this year, we went to spend a Hong Kong-style evening at its recently opened younger sibling, the Blueberry Steam Bar. This new address from the Vaconsin sisters (who were already running the Blueberry Maki Bar as well as the Italian restaurant Marcello, which I have also mentioned on the blog) is a real success once again!
This restaurant with Asian influences transports us to Asia and makes us feel like we’re taking a stopover in Hong Kong. The atmosphere of the place, which feels like a secret club, sets the tone, and it’s an ideal spot for a romantic or at least intimate dinner. The principle of the Steam Bar isn’t to offer main dishes, but rather small portions to share while solving the world’s problems over delicious cocktails.

On the plates, you’ll find extremely refined steamed cuisine with Hong Kong and Tokyo influences that revisits traditional specialties: dim sum, bao (steamed stuffed bun), gyoza, spring rolls… In the kitchen, we find Hong Kong chef Mr. Chi Cheung Wong, who comes from the Parisian palace Shangri-La, where he was the dim sum master.
And to top it all off, the cocktails are also top-notch! Here, they offer just a few Signature cocktails, all original and perfectly balanced. We tried almost all of them, and they are absolutely delicious.
My recommendations: the Mekong Mule (a peppery cocktail, but in a very delicate way); the Tokyo Spring, perfect for summer; the China Girl, the non-alcoholic cocktail on the menu, which is also very good.
Cocktail prices: between €11 and €15

- To accompany your cocktails as an appetizer, I recommend trying the fresh tofu with lotus chips (€9); it’s really great!
To try: everything is very good, but I’ve listed below what we tested…
- As for ravioli, the Black Pearl (€12 for 3 pieces) and the Hong Kong Streets (€9 for 4 pieces); for bao, you absolutely must try the Princess Pei Pei with truffle, which is to die for (€8 each); for gyoza, the Kanako with duck breast are also sublime (€14 for 5 pieces).
- As a side dish, the spring rolls (€9) and the green papaya and shiso salad (€8) are super fresh and therefore perfect for summer.
- For dessert, it’s also excellent, and I recommend trying the cloud mochis if you want to finish with something light, or the Marguerite D. cup with almond milk ice cream, homemade biscuit, and black sesame sauce (€11).

The home delivery version (updated February 2021)
During this period of restaurant closures, I had the opportunity to test the home delivery version of the Steam Bar (or takeaway on-site, depending on your preference). I was delighted to find the perfectly balanced Hong Kong flavors of the establishment that had won me over back then. A small preview in photos below.
Thanks to the Steam Bar for these beautiful invitations and these timeless moments.
