Pioneers of craft beer in Paris (The Frog & Rosbif on Rue Saint Denis is one of the oldest craft breweries in Paris still in operation), the Frog brewers and their FrogPubs are well-known to the Parisian student population. Indeed, the Frog micro-breweries produce their unpasteurized beers from A to Z, in the purest artisanal traditions, and the team, which numbers about thirty brewers, is actually brought together in a club where everyone is trained in all stages of brewing. It’s safe to say they know their stuff!
In total, the brand has no fewer than 10 pubs and restaurants, including 8 in Paris (with the 2014 opening of the Frog Revolution near Bastille and the acquisition of the legendary Irish pub Kitty O’Shea’s!), but it is also established in Bordeaux and Toulouse.
As with my little article on the Hard Rock Cafe, here is a brief overview of what I’ve discovered over many years (since I regularly update this article) about the various Frog locations. Obviously, I knew some of these establishments before I started my blog, having been a student in Paris myself a long, long time ago (gosh, time flies!). But at the time, since I didn’t appreciate beer, I have to say I didn’t really see the point of FrogPubs… Which is quite different today!

FrogPubs locations in Paris
There are currently 8 different FrogPubs addresses in Paris. I think I’ve tested them all at least once. What’s pleasant is that they all have a look and an atmosphere all their own.

The Frog & Rosbif
I talk very often on the blog but also on my Instagram account about the FrogPubs brand, which I love very much and to which I have been loyal for several years. For this article, I went with my favorite photographer to the Frog & Rosbif, which has changed a lot and where I hadn’t returned for years…
On the menu: always delicious burgers, some sweet potato fries (my favorites), all accompanied by a good beer brewed on-site (indeed, this location, which is one of the brand’s oldest, also retains its beer brewing activity on its premises).
Burger prices: between €14.70 and €16

Thanks to FrogPubs and Clara for this invitation.

The Frog & Princess
I remembered Frog Pubs as noisy places, crammed with drunk students, and I felt a kind of culinary insecurity every time I looked at the menu… And then, at the beginning of summer 2014 I think, I went to the new-look Frog & Princess, just reopened after some work, and I discovered a universe completely different from the one I was describing just above…
I discovered a cozy and quiet place with a slightly British atmosphere and a menu that seemed tempting (especially with the arrival of the Smoked American BBQ that I was telling you about just above, which I rather enjoyed on my first test)… I don’t know if the place won’t soon be overrun again by students in need of places for their night-time drinking (even if, admittedly, such places are not lacking in Paris), in any case, it made me want to go back there more often, especially since I like beer now, which changes everything!

Le Frog Revolution
This Frog, opened quite recently, has opted for warm decoration, declined into 5 different universes:
- contemporary English pub (blends of raw materials such as wood, brick, etc.),
- “craft beer bar” as you can find in London or the United States (and which are recognizable by their beer walls replacing the traditional taps),
- “speakeasy club” (in the spirit of bars with a more muffled atmosphere with banquettes and muted lighting sets),
- bistro atmosphere, as well as a friendly and bright dining room.
The Frog Revolution is also a great place for any occasion:
- Lunch (with their lunch special at €15)
- Drinks with friends (possibility to watch matches on the big screen, concerts, etc.)
- Dinner (there are also quieter areas on the first floor)
- Also note that the first floor can be privatized for birthdays, which is always a very good plan

The Frog at Bercy Village
This Frog is located in the heart of Bercy Village, an old historic district of Paris where wine storage cellars were found. The pub has exposed beams, cut limestone walls, and a mezzanine, with two charming terraces. Here, the English microbrewery produces 10,000 pints of its six original artisanal beers per week. You can actually see the copper beer vats inside the establishment, which also makes for a very nice decor.
Beers to taste: the White Light, a white IPA or the Spelt Saison, a blonde beer with spelt.

The Frog & Underground
After several months of work, a new FrogPubs opened its doors in 2016, The Frog & Underground, the “craft beer bar,” and this address for conviviality “made in FrogPubs” is at 176, rue Montmartre.
Spanning 370 m2 over 3 levels, the establishment welcomes you warmly, in the purest tradition of the contemporary English pub. On the decor side, the mix of old and modern styles is very successful, blending raw concrete, cement tiles, and bricks. Wooden chairs, leather armchairs, or fabric sofas blend happily, while the tops of the (three) bars, in pewter or wood in a traditional English style, allow for varying atmospheres.
The little extra: in the basement, The Underground also offers several private spaces, a stage, a dance floor, a cloakroom, and audio-visual and lighting equipment.

Le Frog Hop House
This address is the closest to my current job, which is why I’ve had the opportunity to go there several times on my lunch break. It is located between Place Vendôme and the lively streets surrounding the famous Opéra Garnier, which is quite convenient. This FrogPubs location specializes in artisanal FrogBeer, “Genuinely Good Burgers,” and American BBQ & soul food.

Specialty, the Smoked American BBQ
Since 2014, FrogPubs has offered Authentic American BBQ on its menu. This “smoked barbecue” typical of the Southern United States (dishes typical of what is also called “Soul food”) has nothing to do with “French-style” BBQ (where the meat is seared over high heat!).
In American BBQ, the meat is cooked “low and slow,” so slowly and at a low temperature. Previously dry-rubbed, or cured for some cuts (pastrami), the meat (selected by the artisanal butcher Olivier Metzger) cooks for a period of time ranging from 3 hours (for chicken) to 13 hours (for pork) over beechwood chips in a “Cookshack” smoker imported from Oklahoma.
On the menu: pulled pork, confit and caramelized (Pulled Pork), pork ribs (Ribs), herb-crusted chicken pieces (Crispy Southern-Fried Chicken), smoked and fried, “smokin beef” tacos, or even beef pastrami sandwiches.

The “BBQ for 2” platter (€34 for 2 people) that we tested allows you to taste several of these dishes: BBQ Pork ribs, Smoked Chicken Wings, Pulled Beef Sliders (the small burgers), white and red beans, House BBQ, Sweet potato fries, homemade Coleslaw, Okra fritters, peppers & pickles, Texas toast.

The FrogClub
Since 2022, FrogPubs has launched its FrogClub. For every euro spent (on-site or takeaway), you will earn Frog points credited to your account, which will allow you to benefit from free drinks or dishes in increments of 50 points up to 350 points.

FrogBurger restaurants in Paris
I have tested two different FrogBurger locations in Paris, one near Bastille and the other near Saint-Michel. As the name suggests, these are the burger-restaurant versions of the brand.
Edit 04/30/2021: unfortunately these FrogBurger locations no longer exist, but you can find the brand’s delicious burgers and sweet potato fries in the FrogPubs!

The FrogBurger in Saint-Michel
With my friend Alla, we had the opportunity to be invited to discover one of the latest FrogBurgers from the brand (Frog restaurant dedicated to burgers, as its name suggests), located in the student and tourist neighborhood of Saint-Michel. From my point of view, a very good place to eat a good burger at a very reasonable price (€15 for the set meal with a burger of your choice + fries or salad + drink).
In addition, the cooking temperature of the meat is calculated for each burger thanks to a small device for optimal precision. I appreciate this little attention to detail, and eating a burger with cold, overcooked, undercooked meat… etc… is never very pleasant.
A little piece of advice: try the sweet potato fries, they are super good and not at all sickening, contrary to what one might think!

The FrogBurger in Bastille
I also tested the FrogBurger in Bastille, which was the first Parisian FrogBurger to emerge. I particularly like the first floor of the establishment, which is a very pleasant place to enjoy your burger. All that remains is for me to test the FrogBurger Neuilly which just opened, and I will have had a complete overview of the matter. Something to plan for…
