My recommendations for steak restaurants in Paris

I have never been a big meat eater, perhaps because we ate more fish in my family, but also because I only like high-quality meat (translation: I am annoying demanding). In short, I much prefer eating less meat (not every day) but prioritizing quality when I do. In this article, I would like to share with you my favorite spots for steak restaurants in Paris. Of course, like all my thematic food articles, I will update this one regularly with my new reviews and culinary discoveries.

L’Atelier Entrecôte & Volaille is a chain with 2 locations in Paris, and we visited the one on Rue Réaumur in the 2nd arrondissement. On the menu: a simple offering, centered on a single set menu at €27.50 based on beef or poultry, accompanied by the famous house sauce and crispy fries. For poultry, they serve Label Rouge farm-raised chicken fillet, and for red meat, French beef sirloin. And the good news is, you are entitled to a 2nd helping of meat and fries! Finally, to finish on a light note, we opted for a fruit pavlova.

This restaurant, located around the Place de la République in Paris, is a hotspot for meat lovers, and we went there for dinner in very good company. On the menu: a simple offering with 3 different set menus (only the cut of meat changes, using only Irish Angus breed meat): Black Red with rump steak heart (€29), Black Lover with entrecôte (€35), or Black Prime with beef fillet (€42). All drizzled with their secret green sauce recipe. As a side, they also serve you a salad, homemade mashed potatoes, fries (and you can ask for more fries), and I can tell you it is very hearty. For dessert, we finished with a rum baba (€8), a lemon tart (€8.50), and a crème brûlée (€9).

The setting is very nice, and the service is open continuously every day between 12:00 PM and 11:00 PM. I highly recommend making a reservation (as it was very busy the night we were there), but reservations are only possible between 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

This restaurant is located in the heart of the Passage des Panoramas in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. It specializes in wood-fired grilled meats, because Aurore and Matthieu Bégué, who are behind this project, come from a family of butchers and restaurateurs spanning three generations. The idea of the establishment is to give meat and the butchery trade back its former glory (you can actually find butcher’s slang used in the 19th century throughout the decor and the restaurant’s menu). In the dining room, there is an open kitchen for transparency, not only regarding the origin of the products but also their preparation. This is your chance to see the dishes on the menu being prepared on a 700kg wood-fired grill made of cast iron, brick, and enameled steel. The spot also hides an unusual speakeasy bar in the basement with a mechanical bull for rodeo competitions (a perfect place for a private event, by the way).

We tasted: for a starter, the house specialty, garlic bread cooked on the grill (€7); for the main course, the Tendre, a Salers Angus rump steak (€23 for 180g); the marbled rib steak (price by weight) with sauce and side; for dessert, the jar of Grandma T.’s chocolate mousse (€6.50).

This great spot located in the Batignolles neighborhood specializes in fine pieces of meat that come from the famous Metzger butchery. The products are of high quality, the dishes are simple but very well executed, and the atmosphere is cozy yet convivial.

Must try: for a starter, we shared the homemade Gaston terrine with poultry liver (€10); for the main course, we had the Argentine rib steak served with mashed potatoes (€29) and the pork fillet mignon in a crust with mashed potatoes and sesame seeds (€27); for dessert, to finish on a light note, we tasted the lemon cream with meringue and crumble (€11).

This very cool spot, located on Rue du Chevaleret, next to the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand in the 13th arrondissement, is both a steak restaurant and a butcher shop where you can buy meat. In addition to the undeniable quality of the meat, I really liked the establishment’s philosophy, which tries as much as possible to fight against food waste by buying a whole animal that it will butcher and use every part of. And to top it all off, the team is smiling and extremely friendly. Not to mention the beautiful selection of wines that pair very well with the meat served on the plates.

The little extra: the restaurant has a nice sunny terrace for beautiful days and also a basement for groups.

La Estancia is a trendy Argentine steakhouse that serves Argentine beef. Located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, the restaurant also has a large terrace facing the Quai des Grands Augustins, with a view of Notre Dame de Paris for beautiful days. The place offers a cozy South American atmosphere, live music, and Argentine specialties on the plate and in the glass. We really enjoyed ourselves during our lunch there. The meat is slow-cooked and prepared simply, but the taste and quality are there. A spot I highly recommend, especially in this neighborhood where quality spots are quite rare!..

My recommendations: for a starter, we took the crispy Argentine shrimp (€15); as a side, the corn is an original choice but which finally won us over (the homemade fries are also delicious); for dessert, the panna cotta with homemade dulce de leche.

This meat smoker (smoked like in Texas) arrived just a stone’s throw from the charming Aligre market and was born from the project of two meat (and fine product) lovers who actually went to Texas to train. They brought back with them a huge red smoker for our greatest pleasure. For pork, our friends source Black Bigorre pork (which I already had the chance to taste during our trip to the Pyrenees earlier this year with the favorite photographer) and for beef, the meat (Black Angus) comes from Metzger, a specialist in the field.

I must admit that we were blown away by the quality of the establishment’s preparations… The meat is just delicious, tender, and even I, who am super picky about “fat” (my dad won’t believe his ears!), ate everything in this establishment because it was just so, so good (yes, we loved it!). Small bonus: we even got to watch the basting of the meat as it came out of the smoker (before it went back in, obviously).

Sauce bottle, salt shaker, and overturned glasses on a table, red brick background.

To taste:

  • The place offers very nice cocktails for lovers of this kind of drink like us (between €7 and €10).
  • For meat (pork and beef), everything is absolutely exceptional (and I weigh my words), and I particularly advise you to test the Pulled Pork (super tender) and the Brisket (beef brisket).
  • As a side, I wanted to give a special mention to the rebel potatoes (€5), a little moment of happiness; otherwise, in a healthier version, the candied vegetables (€6) are also very good.
  • For dessert, we tested the Yuzu Crumble (€6), which is super light, and the chocolate cake (€5), more classic.
Small bowl of braised beef ribs with bone, vegetables, and pickles on a tray.
Tiramisu served in a verrine on a patterned saucer, dessert of a Parisian restaurant.

To impress the boss: the restaurant’s name comes from the fascination one of the two cohorts of this beautiful place had for this more than imposing animal, and you can find pretty representations of the animal on a few paintings in the restaurant…

A big thank you to Le Rhino Rouge and Marie for this beautiful invitation.

Originally, La Brigade is a carnivore food truck, one of the first of its kind as it has existed since 2013, offering grilled butcher meat specialties. Recently, La Brigade settled in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, Rue Oberkampf, by opening a butcher-focused counter. The place is sober with very simple light wood furniture that reminds one of the street food world and even street art. The establishment obviously takes the greatest care in the origin of its meats, which all come from quality cooperatives.

On the menu: butcher meats, fresh fries, 100% homemade sauces, and the meats and vegetables come from producers who respect environmental standards.

To taste:

  • The gourmet tray (€17) to taste a bit of everything with 2 meats of your choice, 2 sauces, and homemade fries (which are delicious!) with a bit of salad (just to balance it all out!).
  • For beautiful days (with high temperatures) and for enthusiasts, I also advise you to test the homemade meat tartare.
  • To finish the meal on a sweet note, we tested the chocolate fondant with Nutella sauce (€4) and the raspberry speculoos tiramisu (€4). Neither of these two desserts is light, and I would advise you not to let your eyes be bigger than your stomach…
  • For drinks, the place offers a selection of good local beers with the Bap Bap beer (€4.50 per bottle), brewed in the neighborhood.
Assortment of grilled and breaded meats served with fries and sauces.

Price: classic tray at €12 / gourmet tray at €17

The good deal: lunch menu at €13.50 (tray + drink) or €15.50 (tray + starter or dessert + drink)

Thanks to La Brigade for this invitation.

Cut Street-food is a small spot located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. People mainly come to get takeaway food, but the place also has a large communal table in the center where you can sit down to eat on-site. On the menu: trays to compose with 3 meats of your choice or to mix in single, double, or triple versions for big eaters: beef, breaded chicken, and duck breast. For sides, you mainly find potatoes cooked in different ways. And for vegetarians, the place also offers a veggie tray. For a drink, I recommend you taste the homemade lemonade (€3.50).

Carnium & Co is a great spot for meat lovers, located in Vincennes, a stone’s throw from the Bérault metro station on line 1 (so very easy to access from Paris). The spot works with partner farmers and an artisan butcher to offer quality meats (or even exceptional pieces from Argentina, Angus, or Wagyu…), which they age on-site.

Must try: I recommend testing the bacon mayo eggs; the miso-marinated rump steak tataki, the carpaccio, the burger, or even the Argentine rib steak; for desserts, we tasted the tiramisu, the cheesecake with its red fruit coulis, and the chocolate mousse.
